The Holy Cross Festival and Parade is an annual EIM tradition and a relaxing break from the intensity of the twisties (or the long miles of MTTS). Activities associated with this town-wide festival include the parade, a charity auction, a street dance with a live band, bouncy houses for the kids, a barbecue, and more. *Note that our hosts, EIM motorists extraordinaire Linda & Tom R. have relocated and are no longer at 956 Main St. Their new address is 626 Pin Oak Dr., which is our new rendezvous location. (Turn on to Main St. from US-52, turn right on Anna St., then your first left is Pin Oak Dr.) The parade will stage on Saturday, August 13th starting at ~10:30 am for an approximate noon start. Prior to that time, there will likely be a car wash spot set up at the meet-up spot for anyone who feels so called (like me ). We'll do a little MINI decorating with our stash of goods before we head out to the parade staging area. As in past years, Linda & Tom have graciously invited us all into their home after the parade for a great feast, beverages, and fellowship. They supply a wide variety of drink and that famous broasted chicken from the local bar & grill. Any side dish or snack to share is always welcomed but not at all required or expected. It's always great fun to relax after the parade, enjoy the superb food, drink, and MINI talk, or walk up town and watch (or participate in) all of the festival activities. Parade preregistration is not necessary -- but as a courtesy to our hosts please click on the RSVP link in the MA Event Calendar, post a reply here in this thread, or send an email to [email protected] and let us know you're coming. Thanks! Other things you may want to bring along with you: -- Candy to toss to the kids during the parade -- GMRS/FRS radios (for friendly banter during the parade) -- Personal car wash supplies -- Any leftover parade decorations you might still have from last year Always a fun time...hope you can join us! ======================================== As a reminder, no matter which point of the compass you choose to approach Holy Cross, there are roads (both highways and county back roads) on the way that are among the most scenic and twisty in the entire state. Consider getting creative and have a blast just getting there. ---
Holy Cross. Just like the post title says. Drive to Dubuque and head west on US-52. The meet-up address in in the post.
My husband and my son love to brew their own beer. On a visit to the Brew Haus (a beer supply store in Dubuque) we found a Purple Haze Raspberry Wheat beer mix! We knew we had to make it for the parade!:biggrin5: On a subsequent visit Tom found purple caps for the bottles:cornut: I have no idea how the beer will taste but it will look cool Looking forward to seeing everyone!
