SO I am thinking of getting the Union Jack mirror caps for my MINI Roadster (not very soon as they are not cheap, and I am saving for a trip back east to visit family) but I was wondering how hard they are to install because if I can I would like to avoid the cost of having the dealer install them (unless that is a better deal) not only that but it is an hour and a half drive to get there so it is quite a time commitment as well. I am somewhat handy, and I would imagine that it is just a process of just popping off the current ones (that I am hoping to be able to change in case I want to put it back to stock in the future)

Thank you for any advice that you can give me.

There is a "How to" in the 2nd generation section of the Library that should give you an idea of how to do this.

    Welcome to M/A....

They can be snapped off and snapped on in a couple of seconds...

Just make sure you buy the correct covers... MINI has the motorised and non motorized mirrors... They take different part numbers...

I assume by motorized you mean the electric folding mirrors and not just the regular power mirrors. I'm pretty sure my car dose not have power folding mirrors but I have never tried to see. I guess I will have to dig out the owners manual and give it a try. (I'm pretty sure I did not get that option, parking in my garage is not issue and street parking here is not that tight, heck most of downtown is angled parking)

    Wasn't thinking straight....

Got baked potatoes in the oven..

    Steaks on the "old" grill..

Got mushrooms on the stove... Just added Grand Marnier and flamed the shrooms...

But yeah... Get the right ones...

I'm not sure if the Roadster is any different, but I've changed the mirror caps on my R53 and there are a few little tabs that hold the cap to the mirror body, which are very easy to break during removal of the old caps. I used a small pick tool and only broke one of them off. Look for the tutorial that walks you through the process before you get started in your mod project.

    Worked like a charm...

Thanks for all the advice, it seems like something that I can handle on my own, now to just save up for the Caps!
