So right now I have 215/35/R18 Continental DWS tires on my R53, I was looking at TireRack and saw Continental DW tires in 225/40/ZR18. I also saw Hankook Ventus RS-3 in the same size as the Continentals and Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires in 215/40/ZR18. My question is, with the 225s would I have a problem with seating the bead on my wheel and would I have to do something with the fenders to make the 40 sidewalls clear the fenders? I have stock suspension.
I wouldn't go over 215 unless you're on wider wheels. Also, what he said ^ The potential to rub is more prevalent the wider you go.
Depending on whose 18 it is they also could be a tad bit heavy which wouldn't be helpful for your suspension.
I like the look of the 18"s I had. But the ride and handling are better with the 17"s. At 225 you might be okay in the front but you will have to trim the plastic on the rear. I had 215-40-18 DWS and they fit just fine. Now I have 215-45-17 on a slightly bigger offset or maybe that's smaller (pushes out to the sides more). Besides the weight of the wheels look at the weight of the tires I've seen the specs show as much as 2 lbs difference at the same size.
F__k me...this is the reason no one should listen to this idiot!! Nick please study the below picture carefully!
Front disk question! Sory for invading this tire thread but I could not find the right place to start a brake thread: I have to replace my two front rotors on my 2007 S. I don't race the car but I live in the South of France with a lot of curvy roads . Preferred brands? Web sites? Much thanks in advance :confused5: This is the parts site I am using: http://www.piecesauto24.com/disques-de-frein/mini/mini-r56/19862?page=2
You can search for brake threads by clicking that little box labeled 'Search' to the top right of your screen. I'd use OEM, they hold up/perform just fine, even on curvy roads. Sites most of us use are under the sponsors tab atop the page labeled 'Sponsors'.
FYI - We don't tell people to "Do a Search" on M/A/. That a NAM thing.:ihih::incazzato: A good place to start is look up your options is Tire Rack, then see if any M/A vendors sell the brakes you need.
Thanks Jason, but I get my hugs from the sweetie who lives with me. :goaljnky PS I don't think you are a hipster.
