Yesterday, Guild Resoration (Restoration Garage on History Channel) which contains more than a couple MINIacs unveiled the James Hunt F56S with Hunt's son and race car driver Freddie. A few of us local MINI fans were on hand to see the unveiling. It is a very interesting car. Maybe they will make it into a limited edition one day?

    Cheers,
    Adrian

Interesting, I like the aggressive scoop, not crazing about the chain link fence in the grill. I wonder if BMW is trying to camouflage the nose or draw more attention to it. :confused5:

As I understand this, there is no involvement by BMW. This is a custom shop creation. The new scoop is functional, which in its self is cool. I like the grill, it looks kind of urban warrior.

They should use classic mini's to make a James Hunt tribute car and not use modern MINI's at all.

I definitely see your point, that might have made a really good story. They did have a classic in the shop and there were two for the unveiling.

It was really interesting to meet Hunt's son Freddie, he's very friendly and seems to be very keen on MINIs in general. I might add the the person responsible for the design of this car has an R53. (So we know he has good taste - right?)

It's a great thing to see a tribute MINI dedicated to the late James Hunt. There have been so many outstanding special editions, both Classic and BMW, and this would be no exception. Hats off to Freddie Hunt and Guild Restoration for developing this car.

Here's a shot of James Hunt racing a Classic back in the earlier days...

And that's what they should have built.
