Australian media is reporting the second generation MINI Clubman will be shown in production guise at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September 2015.
Several months ago MINI introduced a near-production Clubman concept indicating the real deal is nearby but it seems that won't be the case as we will have to wait until September 2015 for the second-gen. This comes a bit of a surprise taking into account MINI has already stopped production of the first generation so for approximately one year there won't be a MINI wagon available in dealerships.

According to the same report, the 2016 MINI Clubman will use a different configuration of the UKL platform and won't be just a spinoff of the regular hatchback. From previous spy images we found out the new model will come with regular side doors (two left + two right) compared to its predecessor which has one on the left and two on the right, with the one at the back being rear-hinged. To enable easier cargo loading/unloading, MINI has decided to retain the model's barn-style rear doors.

Although not yet confirmed, the new Clubman will likely receive a range-topping John Cooper Works version packing a 4-cylinder 2.0-liter turbocharged gasoline engine developing approximately 230 bhp (172 kW).
