Probably testing some of the mechanical bits (most of which you cannot see). It's very early in the model cycle for this to appear. Wonder if we may see this sooner rather than later?

I have a feeling the next GP will not be very exclusive.

BMW doesn't know how to let MINI be MINI.

Nope... It's a MINI marketing plan...
You can get everything in the JCW variant...
You will soon get everything in the GP3 variant...
Just imagine being in the 4 door GP3 on the Nürburgring...

All the fake mesh in the front and rear bumpers...
Would it have been that hard to make the mesh real and functional?
Bumper would have looked much better IMO if they had just eliminated the fake inserts and just smoothed over the surface.....

No stick with Mini. I think this is like the bangle butt on BMW. They will change the design. Don't get me wrong I am a BMW fan. I don't like what they are doing to Mini, but I still hold out hope they will see the light.

Mikey, the blue-haired wonder came back from a test drive yesterday of a F56s with tune and exhaust. As he pulled into the shop he commented "man that's a good car". We looked at each other, shook our heads and agreed: If only...

    Eric and I agree.

The F56 is a fantastic car. I think the platform itself has more headroom than the R53 chassis, but it will be difficult to find that headroom with how complicated the newer cars have gotten.

All three generations of new MINIs have been VERY different in character, with lovers of the previous generation getting offended by the newest generation, and new buyers finding the new cars impressive in areas they disapproved of before.

I'm trying to maintain my optimism here, I really hope BMW dials some fun back into the F5x platform, because overall it's an impressive car.

Zach, it's not that the F56 is a piece of crap, but it's a little too soft, a little too refined and isolated for me personally. I am sure the motor has a ton of potential (barring oil pump failure :D), but overall I think it's too mainstream, it has lost the quirks / personality that I think the older cars had.

The F56 does have a lot going for it and styling is subjective. But it is missing something. I agree its too mainstream.
The other day I was watching cars go by my third story hotel room on a busy street. They were all the same boring type of cars. Then a Gen2 mini went by. It stuck out from the rest of the cars, kind of like a breath of fresh air. That is what mini has always been from the beginning. It really needs that back. I wish BMW would quit trying to please the masses.

Making Mini like Camry will kill mini in the long run.

    I don't disagree man.

That being said, find me another FWD 2-door hatchback that has anywhere near the (albeit muffled) character of the MINI.

The GTI, in Mk7 guise, is even more boring than the F56.

I disagree - I think the GTI is more fun than the F56, not nearly as isolated.

Surprisingly the most MINI like new car I've driven in the last year has been the Fiesta ST. It's got a good feel to it everywhere but does blend in in a parking lot unless you know what you're looking at.
