Looks like the new scoop is available...

Brand New Genuine MINI Challenge Vented Bonnet Scoop.

This is a brand new design for 2011 and allows extra cooling for the turbo and engine bay. If fitting to a road car, ideally requires painting to give the best finish.

I like it. I've seen $373 + shippeing spent on dumber things. Painted up that will great on your JCW's. I'm guessing a hole will need to be cut into the bonnet to accomidate it.

Looks to me like it fits in the same place the old one does. Just pop it in and watch it melt.

Come on now MM, how do you know this. I don't think the announcer would have said, "Looks like the hood scoop on the #1 car has melted and they will have to pit. I don't know how this will effect their chances, but it looks very bad from here".:lol:

In thory it would allow the heat to dissipate better. The extra venting would help prevent heat buildup directly under the scoop.

If nothing else it would be unique!

I'd think a race car moving as fast as it can go will not be melting hood scoops. Way too much airflow for that.

If a scoop did melt, it would be a small price to pay for that big horsepower.:drool As far as I know no one that I know with an R56 MCS has had a scoop melt. Urban myth maybe.

Jim, Jim, Jim.... Race car parts are a form of "test it till breaks", then make improvements..... You're looking at the improvement....:D
