So, when do these problems happen? I know people with close to 200K on original engine and no issues. However, I do plan to service SC and WP at around 100K (maybe sooner) which is another 50K. So far for my car has had no issues - even after many bolt-on mods (Complete Madness performance II package). Any alternative advice or opinion? 2006 R52, 46K miles. --Russ
The OP was asking about the 2nd generation MINIs. Being you have a 1st generation you get a whole different set of standard issues.
Nope no recall, but my brother had his done "goodwill" by Cincinnati Mini at 62,000 miles. I believe MAG has been pretty proactive about it also. But depends on the dealer, as we all know some are better than others...
Nick, is the car in the Columbus area? If so have Sam at MAG run the key and you will get the service and repair history.
One I am looking at is in cincy. The other is in Salt Lake. I'll get the vins and have them checked. Thanks
Correct. When I had my car if for service, they found a small oil leak because the bolt had started to back out. My MA told me that originally, they thought the problem was only on 2007-2009 cars, so that is what the dealer was checking. Now they check every second generation S- they are saying the problem is widespread. I was told that there is no official recall, but rather it is a service campaign. Mini doesn't know which motors are affected, as the motors are sourced from Peugeot, who unfortunately can't determine which motors are affected either. My car was caught early at 28K miles. Only the bolt and tensioner were replaced- the chain was fine.
