Can anyone lead me to a sound clip of a JCW Exhaust with the resonator deleted. There are many clips of an S exhaust with the delete, but I'm confident that the JCW will sound different. I want a little more sound from my Coupe but also don't want to create something that drones and wakes the neighbors every time I leave for a MoM Donut morning.
What would be cool is if we could get a couple sound clips of JCW exhaust with different types of manifolds/headers/etc. That are good quality, I don't like searching through endless youtube videos on to find that the sound quality is horrible.
Here is the Challenge Exhaust which has the resonator deleted.... Here is the Challenge Exhaust on a R56.... MiniGarage.it R56 Challenge Exhaust on Vimeo Mark.... Keep it AWSOME... Keep it MINI.... Make it "CHALLENGE".... Just Do It....

That's what I'm looking for. Now I just hope that it doesn't drone.....but I just spoke with Nathan and he told me if it did to either adjust the throttle pressure or turn up the radio.....from the same person who's exhaust makes those lying in a graveyard raise their heads!!!
Jim, you had the challenge exhaust and it droned? The dreaded drone is my main concern. I had a Magnaflow on my '04 MCS and the drone at highway speeds was unbearable. I was ready to pull the trigger on deleting the resonator....now I'm reconsidering if you had that issue.
Keep in mind the exhaust pulses out of a SC engine are different than out of a turbo engine.... So drone may be absent.... Or not.. Just modify the exhaust so you can slip in a "test pipe" or back to the original resonator, if you have issues...
I currently have the described JCW exhaust system on my R53. It is (for me) the perfect sounding exhaust. The deletion of the resonator has had no effect on adding a greater amount of the dreadded drone that I can tell. I regularly drive my car on the freeways at varoius speeds and can detect nothing remarkable. The added burble and the deeper, yet still moderate sounding system is one I'm very pleased with. As soon as I can get a teenager or younger kid to help me record and load some sounds I'll post it here for you. With any luck I can get it knocked out on Thanksgiving... :beer
Jim your JCW exhaust came with a resonator, mine has one. Some folks remove them, but I don't understand why. The JCW exhaust on our R53 MINI's sounds just so right.
Chuck, I agree with you on the R53. The N14 though still sounds dead to me even with the JCW exhaust.
I just went to You Tube and there's several R53 sound clips there. The JCW systems seem to sound like mine... There are other popular brands that can be heard there too. I found the clips under Mini Cooper S R53 with JCW Motorsport exhaust. Also, there's some clips of the R56 as well. Happy Listening!
Apples & oranges. My comments were just about the R53 JCW exhaust. Sorry to cross pollinate your thread.
