The Recaro looks better IMO....in fact it is one the best looking seats i have seen. To bad both cost sooooooo much dang money.
So you are thinking about buying some very expensive seats that you will only have your backside in for a couple of months out of the year. Maybe we can work out a deal and I will use them during the winter? Jim
The seat most people go with seems to be the JCW Recaro. Can't say I've every seen a JCW Sparco go in as a replacement.
I think I've noticed, not that I have Recaro's now, but in my old 318is they were Recaros and they were cloth. The edge closest to the driver door wore out before the rest of the seat owing to the fact that you sit rather deep in the seats and you rub against the left side every time you enter/exit the car. I'd make sure it was something more durable than cloth, IMHO
JCW Sparco: (Were the original JCW seats) JCW Recaro: (AMAZING) Food for thought also: i dont know whether the Sparco JCW has airbags or not...
Yeah, those protruding bolsters will always get the most wear from entry and exit. When they wear through, it will always be at those spots. The leather will probably last longer than the cloth.
That's a negative. That, and the lack of a passenger occupancy sensor, is why they were never offered in the US. EDIT: They have airbags, but they're not up to US Spec.
Hey Jim you need to go back to school for math! March til December is more than a couple, lol Also checked, Sparco' have no airbags at least the JCW ones.
I was going to start a new thread until I found this one. So I thought I would ask here 1st ! Does any one know if (like the ones in after market) are the JCW Recaro less weight then the standard JCW seats ? My jesus they are awesome looking !! :drool But this upgrade will be putting my JCW Clubman close to my price ceiling. I Have lots of options on the build order already LOL ! But if there is a significant weight reduction that might just be the deal maker for me ! (Yes weight reduction is going to be a reoccurring theme in some of my post.. LOL ) Thanks for any help !
Well first off you can't have it built with them from Factory. You'll have to purchase and do install yourself and if your in the US the shipping is a lot. They say there not for the Clubman but many have converted them.
From everything I have read, buying them "after market" will lighten your wallet, so that might make the car a bit lighter. Jim
