This morning in Columbus a Tanker wrecked, there was fire when the tank split and gas or whatever the liquid was went sloshing down the highway and over an embankment. NSFW Language [ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NydusZiVtcU"]Truck crash causes huge fire - YouTube[/ame] Some pictures too...
I had just pulled into MAG for some work on my wife's S...barely had sat down when there was a terrific BOOM and all hell broke loose on the Rt. 161/33 bridge. A tanker exploded, scattering huge pieces onto I-270 and back down Rt. 161/33 while the truck's tractor burned on the bridge. HUGE flames, thick black smoke, and the brush along those routes were fiery scenes from Hell. We, at MAG, had pretty much ringside seats, and MAG can be grateful as Hell that they had moved from the old store on Post Road, because it will be HOURS before traffic is restored around there.
The news tonight said he never made it out of the truck. That cab was just about unrecognizable. I'd be surprised if the firemen could find any cremains...:frown2:
Must have just been the banking right to left turn. Im sure 8000 gallons in the tanker didnt help. Seems like a little driver error but we may never know. pics of said ramp http://www.dispatch.com/news/20170123/fiery-gasoline-tanker-crash-kills-driver-shuts-route-33-i-270
It was also raining pretty good at that time. I know, because I had just pulled into the garage at MAG about 10 minutes earlier and was happy to get out of that crap.
If it was raining, he may have jack-knifed into the wall. I was driving in the rain once, and a UPS semi jack-kifed right next to me. His front cab window was aimed at me, and we were face-to-face. I've never see such a look of pure terror. His eyes looked the size of ping-pong balls. CD
That OP video immediately reminded me of this from some years ago in Dallas. [ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iam27Mh1zu4"]Oxyacetilene canister plant in texas blowing up - YouTube[/ame] CD
