Hey All, I scheduled the Tioga Pass run to Lee Vining and the Whoa Nellie Deli. I am hoping to put this run on our books for October 8th. The one snag is since this run is so long I think that I will be passing again this year, so we will need someone to lead! But other then that this looks to be a good date. Schedule for that day! The Fresno meeting location will be at the Starbuck's at Shaw just east of 41 at 7am. We will leave there at/by 7:30 am so we can caravan to the meeting location in Oakhurst about 8:00-8:15. The Oakhurst meeting location is Raley’s Parking lot on the corner of HWY 41 & HWY 49. Then we will head back onto 41 and on to and through Yosemite. There is a $20 entry fee to the park. We will go over Tioga pass and into the town of Lee Vining & the Famous "Whoa Nellie Deli"! We will arrive around 12:00-1:00 depending on traffic, and how many stops we make. It is about a 3 ½ to 4 hours drive one way. It is very worth the drive though. Thanks Tina
I may or may not make this one (I want to go, but...). Have a couple of busy weekends coming up (moving furniture from Modesto to Fresno this weekend, then have family visiting from New York), and the family flies out that Saturday morning. Looking at the time I would be dropping them off at the airport might leave me enough time to meet up, but I'm not sure yet. Will keep you posted.
With this storm that passed today Tioga Pass is closed! I will keep everyone posted. Snow leaves got down to 6,000 feet. Since turtleback dome and sentinel dome are both covered in snow unsure if pass will be opened by this weekend. link to web cams Yosemite National Park - Webcams (U.S. National Park Service) Tina :biggrin5:
Just checked the road conditions for Tioga Pass and the park service automated system says Tioga is open. They are requiring all vehicles to carry chains. How many of us have chains for our Minis? Mariposadust :aureola::idea:
HAHA two minds think alike I just checked too! I would say we are a go!!!! If anyone still wants to go I will make some calls tonight for the people I have numbers to to verify Tina
I am still going without chains. :fingerscrossed: Even if I had chains that fit I wouldn't put them on the Mini. They would just tear up the fender wells with my bigger tires. rrr: :ihih:
Wish I could go Even if I put on her winter shoes tonight I cant drive fast enough to make it:frown5: I miss all my Mid Cal friends.
Sorry, but I am not able to make it. While I don't have chains for any of my vehicles (not even the Jeep), that wouldn't keep me away (growing up in Iowa and Colorado makes me look forward to driving in winter conditions!), but the other things going on don't leave me the time. For those going, please post a picture of MINI's in the snow for me! Thanks, Jim
