He's right, they all do that. I always get gas before the carrots turn red.

It's not right though. I have a Volvo that has the gas gage marked off in gallons, rather than 3/4, 1/2, 1/4 etc.

    It is dead accurate.

I confirm on both counts . . . And I also agree that I don't like the way MINI gas gauge is definitely not linear. Crazy stuff... now to be fair I haven't looked at the digital reading to compare and I should try to look at that soon.

Wow I didn't think I'd hear from someone that also has a MINI and a Volvo! :D

I've got an r56 and when the carrots go red I get gas. Generally I try to catch it before that. I have heard once in the red they're brutally inaccurate.

The R56 Chili Pepper gauge displays fuel level with all the accuracy of classic British Leyland engineering. While the rest of the world was embracing TI calculators, computers and digital time pieces, BL was in the process of upgrading from abacas' to slide rules and counted on the 83 year old factory clock winder to come up with the correct time of day. It's really nice that every MINI has some of that DNA still. :aureola:

MINI - check. Volvo - check. No problem with either gas gauge. I've run both well below E. Not necessarily by choice, but alls well that ends well.

Looks like a non-R50/52/53 "thing", as I've "gone to zero" on mine too...
