We purchased a used 2009 MCS primarily as a daily driver. But I think with the way I tinker with everything there will be a few changes and additions I did not want to start a "Welcome hi how do you do" thread when I can jump right in with what will be my ongoing thread about our MINI. So Howdy to everyone. :cornut: At the starting line it is a basic 2009 with only factory options. There was 84k miles from the previous owner but all the recalls and even the timing chain and components were changed not long ago. We are the second owners but happy to find a MINI the the original owner was into preventive maintenance. I have no specific plans except that I will not be getting carried away with much. Maybe mostly in the comfort and personal changes that will make this MINI uniquely ours. The first order of business is to get a few trinkets. Ordered are as follows: RED and Silver Key fob ring Dash cover Leather steering wheel cover Chrome Door lock pins Fake carbon fiber licence plate frame Union Jack Wing Emblem Rings Door Lock Short Stuby Antenna Ultra Gauge Custom wheels That's it for now. :biggrin5:
Thank you for the welcome. I received my Ultra Gauge today and did not like the suction cup to windshield mounting so I am going to make my own mount.. I use an Ultra Gauge in another vehicle and really like the gauge monitoring choices to view and the code reading and clearing capability. Very easy plug-n-play and set up.
Very nice looking second generation S. Enjoy your mod fever and Welcome to Motoring Alliance the onlyest MINI Forum you'll ever need !!
What is up with the throttle off the line. Push the pedal and wait, and wait and wait and then it takes off! :confused5: I read on this forum that seems to be normal? Ok?:frown2: So I hope that this Sprint Booster helps?
Welcome to MA and glad to see you personalizing/modding your MINI. You definitely fit right in around here. Nice R56. Jason
^^^^^ hahaha! The Sprint Booster was a pleasant installation. I only got my knees dirty and a sore neck from getting under the dash to tie up the harness out of harms way. After a short test drive, well 45 minutes you know how it is when hills are close by with lots of turns and you are behind the wheel of a MINI,:ihih: I found it having an acceptable throttle improvement. :biggrin5: I may tell the wife the Red light means really good gas mileage.
Thank you. I felt like this was a Mini photo moment this morning. A Mini is like having your own personal "Top model", every picture looks good with a Mini in it. I never realized until this picture but perhaps the stock wheels are really "fugly" looking?
So after driving around a day and trying out all 3 settings on the Sprint Booster back and forth on and off I am not sure that I would tell a friend to run out and get one. It did help when I had to stop on a hill and also gave me the sense I had more power even though I am aware it only changed the throttle body position % greater with less foot manipulation. I did like the LED light colors though. I think I was maybe expecting a little more. It was fun installing it and testing it on the new MINI, right! :biggrin5:
:cornut: Don't mind the R53 SC guys, most of them are friendly and understanding of personal preference. I have an '08 MCS/JCW also. You might look me/MINI Margi up to see the mods that I did. Just a suggestion. Jason
Welcome aboard! Looks like you jumped right in with making some mods to personalize your new car right away. Great, that's what you're supposed to do! MINIs are a little quirky and a tremendous amount of fun. The MA community is fantastic. You'll get help and advice not an admonition to use the search function. Just like the MINI is what a small car is supposed to be, MA is what a car forum is supposed to be. BTW, I'm one of those R53 guys Jason warned you about. I ordered and bought my car new, drove it daily for three years, and realized that they don't make 'em like this anymore. So I did the insane thing and bought a soul crushing POS as a work car and have done my best to put the MINI into semi-retirement so it'll last as long as I do. Have fun, and don't forget to take the long way home!
This year I have been more aware then normal about creepers, drivers that will continue to move up on you at a stop light even when you are trying to make clearance with them behind you. And the all to familiar cell phone use that starts before they come to a complete stop at a controlled intersection. Personally I really do not want to be in a fender bender rear end collision because of either of these primary examples of poor driving skills and lack of common sense and reasoning. I seem to be more alert now more than ever with this situation while driving the MINI. Hmm? So what can I do? :ihih:
