So I'm not a MINI owner (yet) but today I rented a 2015 MC. This car lives 1 block away from me and I rented via ZipCar. It's so tempting not to rent it on a more regular basis but ZipCars are expensive. I paid $57 for 3 hours today. Totally worth it LOL. In those 3 hours, I tested driving to work (planning routes for when I get a MINI), did a grocery run, and went on a fun ride down the Sawmill Parkway. Lots of fun. I totally thought the car was an "S" but its a Justa. It feels mega fun to drive, so before I honestly was not considering a Justa but I totally will consider it when the time comes for me to get a MINI. I'll be in the market for a 2011-2013 used R56 MINI hopefully by Spring. Picture above was when I rented it for a wedding I was shooting in the summer. I honestly can't wait to drive again, and more specially finally get a MINI I've been lusting over for so long. I haven't owned a car in 5 years since I moved to NYC, but last year I moved up north to the burbs, and its time to get a car because rentals are getting expensive, and for the convenience. Back to wishing and dreaming. Hope everyone had a good weekend.
Wow, five years without a car! I bought my first car at age 17 and haven't been without at least one. I now have six cars and a motorcycle.
Well I lived/worked in NYC. No need for cars here. But I moved out of the city so its become a little hard to live without one. Public transport can only help so much.
"Two nations divided by a common language"* In British English, a joy ride is when one or more youths, probably below the legal driving age here of 17, steal a car and drive it around for fun. Top points are scored if they can bait a police car into chasing them. But that's not what you're talking about, is it? *Apparently George Bernard Shaw never wrote this, though he is always credited for it. However Oscar Wilde did write: "We really have everything in common with America nowadays except, of course, language"
Joy ride means the same thing here in the midwest. So it must be an east coast thing. Welcome Aboard!
I lived in Columbus for 10 years!! 3 in Hilliard I should've know what the term Joy Ride meant but I kinda forgot. NYC has corrupted me. BTW...its Soda not Pop (This was my biggest problem when I moved to Ohio) :biggrin5:
I rented a 2015 MINI Countryman from ZipCar this summer. It smelled like really really bad pot. It happens more frequently than I'd like. even the 2015 MCS in the picture in my post was hit by pot smokers. I'm all ok if you want to smoke pot, I hope it becomes legal, but please do not smoke in the ZipCars!! Specially the sexy MINIs!!! So Yea. I'm sure people rent ZipCars to do stupid things.
