I have a Escort radar sector that is dying. If it gets hot it says it needs service. I have always wanted a V1 but just never got around to buying one.

If you have a V1 are you happy with it? If anyone has used both Escort and V1 witch one do you like best and why? Also if your a Escort fan witch one do you like and why?

I have a 2002 Cooper S so I need one, unlike some of my brethren.........Just yanking your chain:biggrin5:

I have used a Escort Solo ii in both my MINIs, the only reason I bought it was that it was battery powered, no wires hanging down. I usually get 4-5 months out of the AA batteries.
    And it works, no tickets.

I went from the Passport 8500 to the V1, I like the V1 better.
I do get more false hits with it (to be honest I haven't taken the time to program out X-band yet, and the other false hits are usually K-band from automatic store doors), but it picks up father away and the Ka and Laser hits are on point.
But honestly, I personally wouldn't go back, if trade all the extra false hits for the "Radar Location/Position" feature, that's the best feature, bar none.

Oh, and the factory windshield mount works really well and allows the unit to mount directly behind and just above the rear view mirror.

BlwnAway, The web page says they have new programming to get rid of false K band from side lane warning cars. Does your unit have that programming?

V1 all day and you can get V1's updated to block out the issues with new car auto braking / radar auto cruse control.

Lee running the power line is a MINI is really easy and it allows the unit to be stealth even in VA. I know because I run mine every year going to and from the Dragon. The V1 picks up the VA troopers radar but they can detect mine even riding right next to me. I even showed a couple of doubters 2 years ago when they were behind me all the way through VA. I picked up every cop and long before the one guy with some fancy new Escort unit did by a 1/2 mile.

Honestly, I haven't checked, but I'm sure it does, it was a used e-bay special, and I've just been too busy with other stuff to mess with it.

Ok V1 it is. I met a guy with a Ferrari that mounted his near the rear window and used the remote head. He said he did it that way so cops would not see it in the front window. I wonder if that would work with a mini.

    Thanks everyone for the input

Yes, it will work but not the best place to put it in a MINI.

You can set it up anyhow you want and you can check out at my set up at the Dragon this year.
    * if you make it this year. :eek6:

But it's better mounted in the front on the passengers side with Velcro to the roof between the rear view mirror and the passenger sun visor. :ihih: This way you have more protection going out front where you need it most and it's back far enough you cant see it at all. Also the rear sensor is on the display side so it is perfectly aimed out the rear of the MINI.

I have mine wired to remote head display set up right in front of my Tach so no lights are on with the main unit above. This works out great because no one riding behind you can see the display except for you. :ihih::devil:

It doesn't look good for the Dragon this year. Work is leaving me too few days off.

Lee while mounting Ferrari windows in your MINI would be pretty cool those windows would cost a fortune. I gave up on radar detectors when the locals started using laser.

I'm positive that my last talk with the deputy would have ended badly if there was a radar detector in my car.

Yeah they don't like them but they also have them in their personal cars when they travel along with an FOP membership card and badge.

Not that it will help in NJ.

NJ Cops "NJ Troopers" give each other tickets because they are all A-Holes. They even ticket other local cops while they are on patrol.

Me, I applaud the cops who pull other cops over for infractions of common sense. It is nice to know there is a place where cops care & don't use a double standard.

Years ago a friend of mine was on a trip with his uncle who was a Cleveland cop/detective & they were pulled over for going 95. The uncle handed over his badge to the trooper who pulled him over thinking it was a free pass. According to my friend the trooper let him have it, wrote him a big ticket & just about arrested uncle cop. That story made me laugh then & still does today many years later.

I guess I am on the fence on cops giving cops a speeding ticket. Where I live they are good about doing the speed limit, most of the time. I really don't mind if they give each other the benefit of a doubt sometimes. I know they have extended that to me also. But I do mind if they use there FOP license plates as a excuse to speed at will. I know the police chief's kid got pulled over and the officer made him call dad. I know both of them and I would not have wanted to be the son. The Dad told me about it and was not happy with his son. I driver slower than a lot of people where I live even with the radar detector. But if I am on a long trip my foot does get heave and I don't notice I am going to fast it is nice to have some warning.

At the company I retired from the regional safety manager was a retired state cop. I told him of an incident I saw on the interstate when I was going home one morning, two separate

state boys went by me at 100+ with no lights. He asked me what time it was, around 6:00 am. He said no big deal, they always had a bet that at the end of the shift whoever lost getting

to the local diner had to pay. This was in Pa. Dave.

It may be wrong, but it is what happens in the real world.
