V1 radar detector

I have a Escort radar sector that is dying. If it gets hot it says it needs service. I have always wanted a V1 but just never got around to buying one.

If you have a V1 are you happy with it? If anyone has used both Escort and V1 witch one do you like best and why? Also if your a Escort fan witch one do you like and why?

I have a 2002 Cooper S so I need one, unlike some of my brethren.........Just yanking your chain

I have used a Escort Solo ii in both my MINIs, the only reason I bought it was that it was battery powered, no wires hanging down. I usually get 4-5 months out of the AA batteries.
And it works, no tickets.

I went from the Passport 8500 to the V1, I like the V1 better.
I do get more false hits with it (to be honest I haven't taken the time to program out X-band yet, and the other false hits are usually K-band from automatic store doors), but it picks up father away and the Ka and Laser hits are on point.
But honestly, I personally wouldn't go back, if trade all the extra false hits for the "Radar Location/Position" feature, that's the best feature, bar none.

Oh, and the factory windshield mount works really well and allows the unit to mount directly behind and just above the rear view mirror.

BlwnAway, The web page says they have new programming to get rid of false K band from side lane warning cars. Does your unit have that programming?

V1 all day and you can get V1's updated to block out the issues with new car auto braking / radar auto cruse control.

Lee running the power line is a MINI is really easy and it allows the unit to be stealth even in VA. I know because I run mine every year going to and from the Dragon. The V1 picks up the VA troopers radar but they can detect mine even riding right next to me. I even showed a couple of doubters 2 years ago when they were behind me all the way through VA. I picked up every cop and long before the one guy with some fancy new Escort unit did by a 1/2 mile.

Honestly, I haven't checked, but I'm sure it does, it was a used e-bay special, and I've just been too busy with other stuff to mess with it.

Ok V1 it is. I met a guy with a Ferrari that mounted his near the rear window and used the remote head. He said he did it that way so cops would not see it in the front window. I wonder if that would work with a mini.

Thanks everyone for the input

Yes, it will work but not the best place to put it in a MINI.

You can set it up anyhow you want and you can check out at my set up at the Dragon this year.
* if you make it this year.

But it's better mounted in the front on the passengers side with Velcro to the roof between the rear view mirror and the passenger sun visor. This way you have more protection going out front where you need it most and it's back far enough you cant see it at all. Also the rear sensor is on the display side so it is perfectly aimed out the rear of the MINI.

I have mine wired to remote head display set up right in front of my Tach so no lights are on with the main unit above. This works out great because no one riding behind you can see the display except for you.
