My inside handles stopped working and it turned out the Bowden cable came loose. Now I am trying to get it back together and I can't quite figure out how it fits. There is a metal bar that is attached to the back of the door lock cylinder. According to some instructions it's supposed to slot in to the mechanism. I can't find any slots on the actuator. the bar doesn't look like it does anything but I know it's got to have a purpose. Here's a picture and below is a link to the instructions. https://www.ifixit.com/Guide/2001+20...lacement/18876
I have changed one of these and for the life of me I don't remember that bar in the picture. I will check the Bentley and post what I find. It was very straight forward, the only hard part was getting the cable back on.
I think it goes into the white thing at the bottom of figure 13 in your link. You have to straighten out the bar in your first pic to get them to reach each other as you maneuver the actuator into place. There are two ways it can fit (90 degrees apart). One way works and the other way doesn't in respect to mating with the lock cylinder.
