For those currently using TapaTalk it will be going away in May. We'll be switching to a more mobile friendly design. This will only affect those on phones and the like. Tablets will not see a change, however, if you are using TapaTalk on a tablet it will no longer work. Consider this a heads up. Once I have more testing complete there will be more info to share. Thanks for being a member of Motoring Alliance and please consider becoming a Supporting Member.
Thank you for the heads up! And for providing such a fun community. This is the ONLY social media I play in
Booo... Tapatalk works. I like it. Very useable on mobile. Much better than some of the others. I'll become supporting, if you leave it alone.
Yeah, gotta ask, what's more mobile friendly than Tapatalk? Not a web interface, and nobody is praying for yet another one trick pony app on their phone. Hope you reconsider.
This grammatical rule is where it's at. Theresa's sentence should have read: This is the ONLY social media I play in, you grammar Nazi.
Same here, tapatalk was nice but it kept getting "enhanced" and lost it's usefulness. If the site is going to have a mobile version it will be much better as Nathan will be the one designing it.
Blame Google... Mobile Friendly sites, as determined by Google, get higher rankings in search. Being as ~72% of daily traffic that sees the ad's and the like come from Google I'm sorta forced to do this. Frankly, it is economics. One supporting member will not make up the income lost by Google ranking M/A much lower in a search. Ad's you may see in TapaTalk generate income for them, not for me. In order to replace the current level of Adsense income there would need to be 26 new or renewing supporting members per month. From a recent BBC Article... There are dozens more articles about this too. Search [google changes mobile search]. M/A with TapaTalk does not pass the Mobile Friendly Test that Google provides. You can check any site here https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/mobile-friendly/
I really don't like Tap N Type. Just when I figure out the last upgrade, bang here is another to learn. I encourage everyone who comes here to M/A become a supporting member. It helps keep our little sanctuary alive & well. :yesnod:
Would making the website mobile friendly not satisfy Google's criteria? Or do they force you to discontinue mobile app access so that your phone's browser is the ONLY way to get mobile access?
Hey, I like crap-a-tap. Works decently and has this, as well as other Forums in a one-stop place. Understand the need to change owing to the rankings deal though.
I like it too. Not a fan of "mobile friendly" sites at all. They are usually riddled with adds that pop up in ways that can't be avoided and it drives me bonkers.
And usually slow to load, formatted oddly, etc... Call me a Luddite, but using the basic chrome browser IMO works fine for 99% of the stuff I do when on my phone!!
