Just throwing this out there as a few events that MINI of Allentown is looking to host for their local MOTORing enthusiasts as customer appreciation days.

They are looking to host monthly driving events. Below is a preliminary calendar of events:

10 JUN 2012 - 3rd Annual: Lehigh Valley MINI Grand Prix. Starts and ends at the dealership. For those who LOVE the twisties. It's a three leg rally. Approximately 90 miles total. Meet at MoA's parking lot for 0930. We'll shoot to leave around 1000 or so.

15 JUL 2012 - Backroads of Berks County. It will start [ame="http://maps.google.com/maps?daddr=40.519941,-75.569202&hl=en&sll=40.519688,-75.568428&sspn=0.005155,0.011963&mra=mift&mrsp=1&sz=17&t=m&z=17"]here[/ame] in Macungie and then end somewhere near the dealership for some eats and beverages.

11 AUG 2012 - Rally to the Roller Coasters. A day trip to Knobel's Amusement Park - it's a free admission amusement park... you just buy tickets to pay for the rides you want to enjoy. Start from the Dealership's parking lot in the morning... and then people can leave the park when they feel like it.

8 SEP 2012 - The Countryside Cruise. Similar to... but VERY different from... the LVMGP Route. A much more relaxed type of drive. Very scenic, minimal turns (from one road to another)... but that doesn't mean the roads are straight. Starts and ends at MoA.

28 OCT 2012 - Steel Horse Poker Run. This is the second year that this charity fundraising event is going to be held. It is to raise research money and awareness for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. The couple who organized and executed the first event in under two months... love motorcycles and MINIs. After the husband recovered from a double lung transplant (as a result of CF), he bought his wife a brand new MINI for sticking with him and putting up with everything. Last year they managed to get over 100 bikes to show up for the event with minimal planning. This year they are opening up the doors to MINIacs as well... with a lot more time to get the word out there. More details to follow on this one... but keep the date open for yourself. IT'S GONNA BE BIG!!!!!

There are a lot of details that need to be worked out yet. The folks at MoA are interested in getting more involved with their customers and providing the full MINI experience to them. So, if you live in the area and have bought or service your MINI there... stop by and let them know what kind of events you'd be interested in.

In regards to the Lehigh Valley GP, Philly Mini says that it's going to be September 8th.

That's because they screwed up a little bit. I told them that I was reworking the rally route but they just went with the place holder under the old name.

I ran that route two years in a row and figured it was time to try something new. Because I get tired of the same old thing every year... I'm sure others do as well. Granted I'm using about 25-30% of the same roads... But unless you've done the LVMGP route both years... I doubt you're going to know it.:biggrin5:

If you plan on attending any of the above events please let me know here (and pm me your name). Also, you can head over to the MoA Fan Page on Facebook and rsvp on the appropriate event page.

The LVGP3 was cancelled on Facebook. Is this still happening on June 10, or at a later date?

Yeah, unfortunately something else is going that the dealership doesn't want to interfere with. So, keep an eye out for a new date.

So, who all is planning on showing up this Sunday?! Be at the dealership's parking lot for 9:30am. I'll be looking to drive at 10:00am. If you haven't already been to the dealership... It's at 4600 Crackersport Rd. in Allentown, PA. Just let me know if you plan on being there... I can't wait for you if I'm not expecting you.

Yup. But don't worry Paul, save the date for the new route in September. It'll encompass a lot of the better roads from the route you're familiar with.

Today was great! Looking forward to September. Is that the run you, Paul and I did a while back?

Had a blast today with the small group of 6 MINIs. That is the kind of pace every MINI rally should be able to keep.

For anyone feeling skiddish about showing up... Don't. These events are only going to get better as the Valley's MINI population grows. The next event is still being planned for July 15th. The drive goes from Macungie to Bechtelsville to Lyons to Allentown. Still trying to figure out a worthy end point. Was thinking maybe Atown BrewWorks, or the Chicken Lounge, or the Tilted Kilt (maybe). Any preference from you folks?! :confused5:

Yeah... Pretty sure that'd be the one. Although it may have changed some since you drove it.

Well, we do that same stretch of road in that one too. I just couldn't cut that roller coaster out of one of my rallies. Although, you need not worry about the gravel road from today. That one will not be part of September's run.
