It's official, so mark your calendars and start your diets! The GREAT Ice Cream Run 3 will take place from June 20th through June 24th.

Registration is open! You can download your form either at the The GREAT Ice Cream Run website or by clicking here. All forms must be received by March 30th.

The GREAT Ice Cream Run 3 will be a five-day trek from Staunton, VA up to Bar Harbor, ME, with stops along the way for some of the very best ice cream you've ever tasted. Deep fried ice cream... grilled stickies ala mode... Maine Blueberry ice cream... and don't forget that lobster ice cream! Those are just a few of the ice cream delights that await you along the way. The focus this year will again be on quality, not quantity. To that end, we'll be highlighting just 2 or 3 shops each day.

On the night before the run (6/19) we'll be having an evening kickoff "night of gluttony" so we can all get to know each other and find out who the REAL ice cream fanatics are. We'll start at Wright's Dairy Rite so everyone can enjoy a Wright's Wheelie (warm glazed donut covered in ice cream, and your choice of toppings). Next we'll move up the road to Kline's Dairy Bar to sample one (or more) of their "flavors of the day". After that, we'll continue on to The Split Banana in downtown Staunton for some of their home made gelato. Are you up for the challenge?

We've made sure that all the host hotels we've chosen accept pets, so feel free to bring your furry friends along if you choose. We've even got one ice cream shop along the way that serves doggie ice cream.

For veterans of TGICR2, the changes for this year's run include:

    1. We added a fifth day so that we can make a loop a little further inland on Day 1 to visit Penn State's Creamery (go Lions!) as well as another State College institution... The Diner - home of the grilled sticky. And what's better than a grilled sticky but a grilled sticky topped with ice cream! Don't know what a grilled sticky is? Join us and find out. You won't be sorry.

    2. With the loop out to Penn State (go Lions!) a few of the other night stops have changed as well. Day 2 will be an overnight in Port Jervis! Yep, that means there will be more time for Riverside Creamery. You can have a cheesecake chimichanga for dinner and deep fried ice cream for dessert.

The GREAT Ice Cream Run website has been updated with route, hotel, and ice cream shop information for all nights of the run. We'll be working to try to get some group rates with the hotels. Information will be posted to the site as we get it, and registration will open later this month once we work out the pricing for t-shirts and window clings. To stay up to date on all the latest details or to sign up for the event email list, please visit: The GREAT Ice Cream Run

If anyone has any questions, please feel free to post or shoot me a PM.

Hope to see you for all or part of the run this year!
