The coolest cockpit footage of an F-18 going through the canyons of Northern California and Oregon that you'll see today. Awesomeness to the left, Dramamine to the right. Toggle full screen and enjoy. [ame=http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=17e_1346455094]LiveLeak.com - Beautiful F-18 low altitude canyon run[/ame]
Cool. I find those hard to orient to. The pilot feels the plane change position and the horizon remain constant. The video makes it look the other way round. Flight simulator games do the same thing. Jim
It's interesting how he flies inverted to go over crests - whether for improved visibility or to pull higher negative 'g', I don't know. But you don't want to meet him on the road, do you? I mean, it's not like he stops at canyon junctions and looks left and right before proceeding, is it?
LOL. I would guess he has forward seeking radar to tell him what is around him. I have often thought it would be great if a GPS unit could alert you to cars ahead, around the bend in front or coming up fast behind. It could solve the tractor trailer problem on the Dragon. Jim
It is here. Four or five years ago I played golf at a course that had gps on the golf carts. It not only showed you how far away the pin was but showed you exactly where it was on the green and where the other golf carts were on that particular fairway. Now all nanny has to do is mandate it for everybody.
I would use it. At least you would have some warning. Wonder if it will have a "target lock" feature? Jim
Glad to be of service folks! Sic-Sacs (Ten Sacks) - Sporty's Pilot Shop I carry these in my MINI glovebox as a conversation piece mostly...and just in case...
