The Aztec Copper paint job makes this a really rare find. I don't think they tried a similar color again until the C4. In '87 there were 87 and in '94 I think a hundred or so in Copper Metallic. Very few examples left. That '56/57 looks great! About the only way to tell the difference from the exterior of the two was the way the rear view mirror adjusted.

'67 big block right? Love that stinger hood. Probably the prettiest model Corvette ever made. Great pictures by the way.
Thanks for posting CD. Always love to see the Vettes!

The Aztec Copper car is a 57. It is a rare color, especially with the two-tone option. The car is pretty, but somewhere along the line, the engine was replaced with 327.

The black car is a big block -- 427. Someone added a bunch of L88 parts to the engine, but it is NOT and L88. The silver stinger matches the silver upholstery, which is original spec, and quite rare. If you look closely, you can see the top of the silver seats.

So, both are very nice drivers, but not quite collectibles due to the changes I mentioned.

Maybe not Bloomington Gold, but definitely desirable. If the '57 had the 283 w/Rochester FI it would be perfect. Yep, I noticed the silver seats. Don't remember ever seeing a silver interior. The mid years are my favorite models. 427 convertible, with side pipes? Don't get no better than that.

I worked in an auto body shop in the 1970's, we had a customer, who was a good friend of the owner of the shop, who had a 1969 Corvette with the ZL1 engine.
After we repaired a hole in the front fender, I got to take it for a drive. I think it was the quickest car I have ever driven.

You're a lucky man Dave. I doubt you'll ever meet anyone that can say they have done the same. I envy you, because all I've seen were pictures. They only made two factory equipped ZL-1 Stingrays that were sold to the public. Something about the ZL-1 option costing more than the base car I think. The two known (a white one and a yellow) are said to be among the most valuable Vettes in existence. The last one I remember going at auction was for something like 1.4 million, and that was quite a while back.
