We all knew ( or should have ) it was just a matter of time before the crooks caught up technology wise on this... Be interesting to see/hear what the manufactures have to say about it now....

What's in it for the manufacturers???

Every vehicle that gets stolen and disappears in a chop shop or heads south of the boarder is an opportunity of being replaced on an insurance claim...

    This works...

Metalman, All a thief has to do is cut part of the steering wheel and that bar will slide right off. Least of his worry if stealing the car.... The manufactures will care if people quit buying their car for fear of it being stolen...

I have learned if a thief wants something bad enough they will get it. My Dads store was on a corner, they had bars on the window and and big metal does. What did the thief's do? They went through a brick wall! :mad2:

    This will stop auto theft!

Back in the early 1990's, I was going to grad school interviews. My student host for one interview offered to drive me across campus, so we jumped in her ancient, rusty Datsus POS. I mean, this car was beat to hell and was rusted through in so many places... many of them large enough to reach your hand through and touch the road. When we climbed in, she took off a Club and a stickshift lock. I chuckled and asked why she had $200 of security on a car worth $100. She said that the car wasn't important... it was the pain she would have to go through to file the insurance paperwork, find and buy a new car, update the insurance and get it inspected/registered. She had a good point!
