Calloway claims that they can do the whole thing out of exotic materials for around $15k. If I was in the market of a Vet that is one option I would check. I do like the way it looks. Just might add it to the bottom of my car wish list.

Thumbs up

Callaway WILL build it. They're still saying it will be around $15K (plus another $1.5K to paint it to match).

The Chevrolet Corvette Wagon is Heading to Production! (autoguide.com)
Quote:
By Jason Siu | Apr 05, 2016

Three years ago, Callaway showed off a Stingray AeroWagen that essentially converted the American sports car into a shooting brake. The company has now confirmed it will produce the Chevrolet Corvette AeroWagen and will begin deliveries in the fourth quarter of 2016. All regular production Chevrolet Corvettes and Callaway Corvettes are eligible, but it must be a C7 model. According to Callaway, the package includes a carbon fiber composite structure that is one piece and autoclaved to preserve original function and hardware. The rear operates as a liftable hatch so owners can access the trunk.

Perhaps the craziest thing is that installation of the package is straightforward and reversible, meaning the vehicle can be reverted back to its original form.

That means you do not have to purchase a Callaway Corvette for the conversion, which can be installed on your stock Corvette coupe. No interior changes are made to the cargo area, but seats cannot be added due to the Corvette’s chassis and running gear configuration.

Callaway has no plans of offering a four-door variant and performance specifications for the Callaway Corvette AeroWagen will be announced at a future date. Unfortunately, no pricing information was announced.

A shooting brake is always at the top of my list. The thing that I can't get over with the new vette is the Batmobile rear lights. I gave myself some time, like I do with all new cars, but I just don't like 'em. How about a C6 rear on a C7.

In other OT news, and speaking of car designs growing on me, I'm starting to love the new Mustang. It helps that I drove a 5-liter version a bit hoonishly and giggled my a$$ off.

I'm with you the Vette has had quad round or round-ish tail likes since the late C1 models. It was a signature of the car. For the C7 they took the tail lights from the Camaro.

To me the whole C7 looks very Batmobile. The tail lights don't bother me,but much other stuff about the design does. The shooting brake is the best version of the C7 to date.
