Today 82 dealers were chosen for the US....

Can't wait to see the 4C up close and personal....

Bob-Boyd FIAT, dba Bob-Boyd Alfa Romeo, Columbus, Ohio

Alfa Romeo roars back to U.S. at these 82 dealers

I find it interesting that Cincinnati and Cleveland got zip..... But Centerville (population 23,974), what up with that?

I read somewhere the U.S.-spec version is a few hundred pounds heavier. I think that's something like a 15% gain? Didn't read the full article to learn why.

Cinci probably didn't get one because there is one in Florence, KY.

I also thought it was strange that there isn't one in Indy, but rather one in the Northeast and one in the Southwest corners of the state.

Cool one one in PA on the other side of the state by Pittsburgh. The other two are in New Jersey where you have to pay a toll to leave the state once you enter. (no thank-you)

They had to increase the thickness of the carbon fiber main canopy tub to meet impact standards, added air and stereo as standard equipment and a few other things..... I think it went up 286 pounds if I remember correctly over European model...

If it's 2153lb in Europe, 286lb is still over 13%.

Here's the article I saw.

The U.S.-Spec Alfa Romeo 4C Is 342 Pounds Heavier (jalopnik.com)
Quote:
Damon Lavrinc

You read that right. On the Atlantic cruise from Modena, Italy to the U.S., the 4C tacked on 342 pounds, and it wasn't from the all-you-can-eat steak and shrimp buffet.

The linebacker-plus weight gain is partially thanks to the feds, which required a slew of safety and structural improvements over the Euro-spec model. That includes a thicker carbon fiber tub, side airbags, and an adjustable passenger seat. But it also means that the claimed curb weight of 2,495 pounds includes an estimated 33-percent take rate on options, as mandated by the EPA.

But you can't entirely blame the federales.

Unlike the European's 2,153-pound 4C, the U.S. model gets standard A/C and radio. Which makes perfect sense for a sports car starting at $54k. But you still have to UNBOLT the driver seat to move it up and down.
Article.

CARMEL, Calif. -- Pricing for the 2015 Alfa Romeo 4C Spider will start at $65,495, with U.S. sales of the hand-built convertible expected to begin in August, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles said today.

It will be the second Alfa Romeo model introduced in the U.S. after the 4C coupe marked the brand’s return in 2014.

The 4C coupe and 4C Spider are assembled in Modena, Italy, and combined 2015 output is expected to total just 2,500 vehicles. North American sales of the two models are forecast at 800 to 1,000 vehicles this year.

Optional equipment on the 4C Spider will include a carbon fiber halo ($2,750), carbon fiber hardtop ($3,500) and racing exhaust package ($3,000).

Saw a hard top 4C in person last night. It is one of many appealing cars that I will never drive.

They may be taking orders, but it was my understanding it'd be 18 months until you actually got one. I was very tempted.

I've seen the 4C in San Francisco a couple of times, and I think the design is stunning. It doesn't look like just another sports car and conveys style and character, which is so rare in modern cars.
