Well this could be interesting.... http://carbuying.jalopnik.com/volkswagens-new-diesel-motor-makes-268hp-could-get-up-t-1657874426
Yeah... But I read "euro only".... And infer that even with vw selling lots of TDI models...they all use the same motor due to certification issues....then I infer, " no motor for you!!" That and the power for the electric turbo has to be stored somewhere.... So after a short dyno run...the alternator would start to drag to turbo mpg down...potentially being LESS than an exaust driven unit unless VW is being very optimistic....really makes it more like a electric supercharger or worse since you have efficiency losses making DC...storing it...the converting it to motion... Interesting they are trying it...like the "twincharge" turbo and sc motor we never got....
Oh it's a TDI, we don't want diesel in the states just like we don't use the metric system. We use gas and we buy it buy the Gallon, just like they calculate milage. MPG
I've owned several turbo diesel Peugeots in the UK 306/205 and loved the low down grunt. Problem was I kept losing the brakes due to over heating pads!
It's a start! I loved my ML350 and my Jeep Grand Cherokee. Both had the same 3.0l v6. The Merc would do 245... And get 28mpg. ( at normal speeds)
No we won't we get oil and we have lots of it here. Btw diesel is over $3.00 bucks a gallon and gas is under $2.00 a gallon why would I want dirty smelly diesel. We are a world super power and we do as we want when we want.
Super smelly eh? Go stand behind a New Mercedes diesel. I'll bite my tongue on the super power do whatever we want ideals.
Full service fueling. Wait. You don't have that down there. Mercedes 3.0L V6. 240 hp 455 tq. 30 mpg 7500lb towing. Diesel.
1. We don't have it or want it. 2. Diesel still cost too much. 3. Filling up smells really bad. I am very close to Philly, Pa Del and NY and we have lots or fuel refineries on the East coast and they smell worse they a sewage plant all year long. People here would rather have a hybrid than a diesel and we really don't like Hybrids but that's all young skinny jean Hipsters want to drive. It's all that "Save the planet hug a tree" crap.
Super power. Is that the blu-stuff that makes the diesel stink less? I'd never stand behind a Mercedes some old fart would likely back over me.
I love my diesel Q7. Except for the price of diesel and the $5k more it cost me over the 3.6 gas version.
Those are not hybrid diesels. Like this. http://www.greencarreports.com/news/1093875_mazda-to-offer-diesel-hybrid-in-japan-only-while-u-s-diesels-still-mia
