Here is a question I have not been able to answer from searching the inter web. Our house is located in the rural area outside of the incorporated city limits. 2 Lane road. It used to be posted 25 in town and then as you left to head out my way it was posted 35 and then not posted but known to be 50 mph. (We are in Ohio and the law says that un-posted non-divided is 50) Now they have added another zone where it used to go from 35 to 50. They dropped in posts for 45mph. But there are no begin or end speed limit signs. Anyone know how much distance you have to go with no signs before you can assume it is 50 again?
Just drive faster until you see flashing lights behind you then pull over and ask that guy. He will know the answer.
A long time ago, I used to pull over for those flashing lights, but then they would give me a ticket, so I don't stop any more.
I figure until the first side road where you could plausibly argue you turned onto the 'unmarked" road. Its only 5mph, really worth worrying about?
Jeff.... Move out of the sticks and into the city.... Speed limit doesn't change much here.... Problem solved...
I live out in the sticks, cops hardly ever come out here, mostly only when you call them and that takes about 20 minutes.
Or, move to West Texas, where the speed limit on I-10 is 80MPH. Of course, when you finish driving, you find yourself living in West Texas. :frown2: CD
All I know is in Memphis, TX they used to used to have a speed limit sign hidden behind a tree, and then they would fine you out the wazoo. The last time I got a ticket on an unmarked road I went to court (early 90's) and was told it was my responsibility to know what the speed limit was if there was no signage!
Yeah, there are a whole lot of speed trap towns in Texas. If you are a driving enthusiast, and live here long enough, you find out where most of them are. Dallas to Amarillo, a drive I've made way too many times, is full of them. The speed limit on Hwy 287 changes speed limits about fifty times, and at any given time, there is a speed trap at every point where the speed limit drops. There are also towns in Texas where it doesn't matter what speed you were really driving. I got tickets in my Audis for, if they were honest, for driving an Audi. They figured I had the money, and would just pay the ticket -- which I did. Yeah, I fed the beast -- and don't feel good about it, but it was the easy thing to do. I'm not as willing to joust at windmills as I once was. But, it could be worse -- I could be black. DWB is a popular offense in North Texas. My black neighbors get pulled over all the time. CD
The last time I was confused about a speed limit a nice deputy turned around & stopped me. He told me the speed limit was not 68mph. After a little chat & a check of things with his dispatcher he sent me on my way. Lucky day for me he was a nice guy.
My favorite speed limit is "safe and prudent". Unfortunately when I was in Montana at that time I wasn't driving anything to take advantage of it.
Just go as fast and you want. If you get pulled over say you are on your way to the hospital to have a External Hemorrhoid that is about to burst lanced and drained. Or tell him you have a huge Cyst on your Gonads and your going to the ER. Either way he or she will not check if you lying or keep you very long and let you go on your way because you are about to have a really bad day. You will gross him out and he / she will let you go. LMAO
