My wife is looking at replacing her Clubman with a Ford Flex. Anyone have any experience with these?

The wife wants a third row and a little more room for the kids in the back. Seems like they are just too close together at times and it drives her crazy, so I guess that it is more for her sanity!

I think that's why she likes it. She doesn't seem to want to go back to a minivan.

A friend of mine has one and loves it.

No kids, but he hauls a bunch of stuff regularly so I think that is why he got it.

We have a couple of them in our fleet and the service dept. likes them. Have been very trouble free. i think they each have about 75K miles on them.

We are actually in the process of looking at SUV's at the moment. We have looked at the Lexus R350, the Cadillac CTS, and so far the best we have checked.....the Lincoln MTX! It's based on the Edge. It has the best power AND fuel economy of the segment. Plus it uses regular gas. They just redid the MTX this year, new body work and a completely redesigned interior, it is amazing inside. The displays and electronics are cutting edge. As of now it is the first choice. We are going to check out the Edge this weekend and also the big VW.

The Flex is a decent ride. Just beware of the gas mileage difference from the Clubby. ;)

Just saw that you wanted a third row, I know the MTX does not offer it, not sure about the Edge? BTW, we are both 50 and have AARP cards so we are allowed to get a Lincoln

Since it is for your wife get what she likes. The Flex does have the look of a Clubman with glandular disorder. In fact to my eyes it looks more like a MINI that that Big MINI that just came out.

    Thanks for the feedback!
She is aware of the mpg difference which is unfortunate, but what you have to deal with on a bigger vehicle. It does seem to do better than some of the others though. We are in our mid thirties so I think that rules out Lincolns and Buicks!

The Ford Flex is an awesome SUV. I've been working on my wife to trade hers in for it but it's not going to happen I'm afraid.

The interior is really really nice with an excellent electronics package. I test drove the Eco Boost model which has the twin turbo V6. I had three adults and three kids in the car. It pulled hills effortlessly. That is one hell of an engine.

I liked the engine so much I've decided I need the new F-150 with that motor

I had to rent one to go to a funeral in Texas, had just driven back from Texas and my step sister passed away the day after we got back completely unexpected of course. So I rented one. It was really roomy, couldn't believe the room in the second row and even the third row. The gas mileage was really good also, it was the AWD model I like it over a mini van any day.

I think that she might have found one today. Funny thing, it is Steel Blue, which is similar to her Horizon Blue Clubman. If it had a silver roof it would be perfect. We could just say that all this rain made it grow!

Well, it looks like she is going for an Expedition EL instead. Guess it is time to put her Clubman up for sale. I think she is going to miss it but she will enjoy having the extra room.
