Woot...this should be fun.. - See more at: New Ford GT will race at Le Mans with Chip Ganassi in 2016 | Autoweek
Ford doesn't have MSR anymore. Michael Shank is going to campaign a Ligonier powered by Honda. I can't wait until MSR blows the doors off of the Fat Man....err Chip Ganassi at the Rolex.
That's because Ford screwed over MSR in my opinion. Used them to develop the engine than all the attention went to Ganassi when they jumped in at the last minute. :frown2:
MSR should have a great package this year for TUDOR. They are going this route so that they can run LeMans.
Yes MSR was most likely screwed. Ganassi has huge money behind him. I'm sure it was the $$$$,$$$ that made the difference to Ford. I hope MSR has a great year & wins their part of the championship. Have to root for the hometown team.
I've been drooling over the pics from Ford's shock reveal at the NAIAS. It's a concept, I think, but they plan to be selling it in less than two years (and one article claims they'll be racing it sooner) so it may be pretty close already to the way it will look in production form. I love it BUT, if you take most of the supercars and paint them all black, take all the badging off most people couldn't tell them apart.. brand to brand
Can't wait to see that on track. The design is interesting, but to my aged eyes it's too busy. There seems to be no purity of design. I know aero dynamics causes this. Guess I'm from a simpler time. Once they add an M7 wing it will be much cooler.
That's because Chip Ganassi has his own secret tunnel to test in, and we are not talking wind tunnel. The secret racing test tunnel no one wants to talk about The secrets of Laurel Hill revealed | Racecar Engineering
I love the look in general but I'm with you on the "too many" creases and folds. Like others have said, I'm sure much of the shape is a result of wind tunnel testing and aerodynamics, but I'd bet money that at least some of those creases are down to unfortunate (IMO) aesthetic choice. It's a fad I'm not fond of (also why was less than thrilled when the BMW Z4 came out with more creases than the Z3. I'm sure they could have smoothed out a few of those sharp edges on the GT without negative aero effects.
Yes it does & sometimes it ends up being beautiful & sometimes it ends up a mess that works very well. I'm certain it will look better on the track with numbers & sponsors logos on it.
Speaking of, this is kinda fun...and it was also inevitable. The Ford GT in Gulf livery will haunt your dreams (roadandtrack.com) Article here.
