Anybody watching? I'd love to go there, some year. I've been to the Monterey Historics several times, as well as Rennsport Reunion, but only once -- so far. I love watching these old race cars race -- and many of these guys really race these classic cars. CD
Yes, on and off. I love the Revival. I love to see those classics being USED instead of just coddled and stared at but I'm torn because I absolutely cringe whenever there's an off. I hate the concept of "rubbin' is racin'" in any form of racing but especially hate to see classics bumped around. Oh well, you can't really race without risk.
When drivers are really racing hard for position, some bumps are bound to happen, and that's okay with me. But, I agree that bumping as a race strategy is not my thing. This is what really makes a car guy cringe...
You are thinking of the Bizzarrini Strada, which is what was sold in the US as a street car with a Corvette V8 up front. I'm not sure, but I think the Strada was the only Bizzerrini model that came to the US. This wrecked car looks like a Bizzarrini P538S, which was a spyder. It was a race car with the engine out back. I believe all but one had Corvette V8s, but I think one V12 version was built. I shot a Strada for a magazine about ten years ago. It was all original, IIRC, so it was kind of rough. They wouldn't let me drive it, because it was mechanically a bit sketchy. It was sold to a customer of mine, who had it restored. It appeared at Concorso italiana a few years later. CD
