    Just upgraded my cable and watched highlights from the WRC in Japan last night. Looks like Ford and Citreon are the only names on the leader board, so there could be room for BMW (MINI). One driver hit 184 mph on gravel, through the woods, before breaking hard for a sharp left hand turn. Real good stuff. I will never look at a Ford Foucs in the same way again. :D

    HD has a lot of what I think is good quality automotive and powersport programs. Chasing Classic Cars is one of my favs..

    One day...one day...just have to keep playing lotto.

    I saw the previews for that (about 10 times in one hour) and it looked good. Seems like I have been missing a lot.

    They showed a session last night but it was rained out.. Note it is motorcycles. Not sure exactly what is taped/rerun or live. The helmet shots are spectacular!

    Up until 10 years ago, I used to go there for a week to watch the racing - this is a 37-mile race course that is open public roads 2 hours earlier. The racers at times are doing over 200mph on a road 20 feet wide lined on both sides with stone walls. Huevos the size of planets. At least.

    One of the nicest, most modest racers is Guy Martin. His British accent may be hard for some folks but here is his on-bike description of the whole course (in two parts):
    [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QVXc29ZgutI]YouTube - GUY MARTIN TT Isle of Man Lap on-board Honda 1000 - 1 of 2[/ame]

    [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DFUYIH2Ttzk&feature=related]YouTube - GUY MARTIN TT Isle of Man Lap on-board Honda 1000 - 2 of 2[/ame]

    Best line? "This is Kirkmichael. There's a bit of a fish in someone's garden and I use that as a braking marker."

    Tonight they were in France and they showed the Clubman WRC car. It was shots of the one with the silly yellow/black camouflage, but none the less they said that Mini Cooper would be in the racing in 2011. :Thumbsup::Thumbsup::Thumbsup:

    HD Theater has a lot of good motorhead programing. They do seem to rerun a lot of their shows. So if you miss something chances are you can catch it later.

    The TT stuff is flat out amazing. I wonder how a rider with such large attachments can straddle a bike.

    Jim I think that speed was 184 KPH. Still hella fast on gravel. :yesnod:

    Yep they do rerun a good bit but that can be a good thing too. Hopefully if we support their efforts to show quality motorhead programs they will find more and more for us to watch!!! So send those emails praising their direction!!

    Yes, you are right, as it is all on the other side of the pond. Just use to thinking MPH rather then KMH. Guess I'll have to correct that now that I am getting into this WRC stuff.

    Still, 184 kph is about 115 mph - on gravel!

    The only problem I have with HD Theatre is the constant repetition of their commercials - in fact they're not really commercials since what they're advertising are upcoming shows, but still - 10 -15 times an hour or more?!?!?!?

    The problem I have with Mr. Carini - besides the fact that he reminds me too much of a mouse - is what he and his cronies have done to the classic car market - namely, made it impossible for me or any other normal guy to own one anymore. When a freaking Fiat Multipla sells for $30K.......cheeze louise!!!!!!! A new Turbo Abarth 500 doesn't even cost that much, let alone a 40 year old 600cc Multipla......

    The only way you can own a classic MINI is to either buy one cheap and spend $20 K restoring it or buy one for $20K already done.....

    Ferraris? Astons? Lambos? Maseratis? Fugedaboutit.......

    Most American muscle cars are in the same boat....in fact pretty much anything from the 50's and 60's is either out of reach or a total restoration candidate.

    They were not too bad at 10:00 pm. I had to laugh because I saw one for "Dr. Color Chip" which I had never seen before, but I had bought the product after hearing MiniMark talk about it. :D

    It is a two way street though... Most that take on the task of doing a proper restoration on a classic, never get their time and money back as most still sell for less than the original restorers investment in time and money. So with these cars obtaining higher values it does make it a more worth while undertaking, still you can buy a restored say Camaro for less than you can buy a heap and do it yourself.....

    You'll have to learn how to read & write pace notes too. Plus learn French & Finglish so you can understand the commands barked out by the co-drivers. :crazy:

    Right, I can't figure out exactly what they are saying to the driver, even in English. I'll have to study up some more.

    I love listening to Daniel Elena giving directions to Loeb - his voice and delivery make me laugh out loud sometimes! :D

    By the way, BTDT on the rustoration, I have a '69 E-Type in my garage that took 4 years of my life and I don't want to know how much money!

    Very cool. Back in the day I was completely in love with the XKE 2+2 and the Healey 3000. Couldn't afford either one. :sad:
