Anyone have any experience with my latest obsession, The Instant Pot Duo? The electronic pressure cooker/slow cooker/sautee/steamer/ blah blah functions are really appealing. Beans in an hour without pre-soaking, "hard boiled" eggs that are easy to peel, rice in 6 minutes...all without the worries of a traditional stove-top pressure cooker. My mom uses a stove-top pressure cooker regularly - I feel like she's way too casual about it and that one day, I'll find a large smear on the ceiling when I come to visit. This thing is completely programmable and you can just walk away... Anyway, I'm hoping to get one for Christmas. Anyone have one? Or have any amazing pressure cooker recipes they'd like to share?
I just have a regular stove top pressure cooker, I use it about once a week. I think of it as a 19th century microwave oven.
Where have you been!? I read the title and thought you had been working on a different type of instant pot.
Ditto. I haven't seen your name in quite a while. I do not have a pressure cooker, but do recognize the value of one. I'm still loving my sous vide thingy, and finding new things to do with it. A pressure cooker is on my short list for future kitchen gadgets. CD
Merry Christmas Stef! Good to see you surfaced again. No pressure cookers here 2 hours south of you. I can say with a high level of confidence that if I were to buy the wife one for Christmas, I'd for sure wind up in the Dog House. Or maybe you've not yet seen that JC Penney commercial... Good luck and hope Santa can deliver!
Exactly! I saw the title and thought it must have something to do with the recent election (legalized in 4 states).
Instant tea.... Instant coffee..... and now instant pot.... We are living in some amazing times... Welcome back Stefanie.... Been missing your foodie posts...:drool
Very useful I use my Instant Pot nearly every day for pressure cooking or steaming. It is a truly versatile kitchen appliance. The yogurt function makes great yogurt. And, it will fit in the Mini Cooper. Padre
My mom used a pressure cooker a lot. We use the crock pot instead. My dad said the crock pot reminded him of the cast iron stove back in his old house in the old country where they would put stuff in all week to cook. Then come Sunday have a great stew. Hungarian goulash. He use the pressure cooker to make it when I was growing up.
Hah, hi again everyone and Merry Christmas! Yeah, I've been absent for a while - work is crazy, my family is crazy, my kids are driving me crazy...I'm sure you all can relate. ut: However, the MINI is still running great! Hehe. Padre - it's reassuring to see another good review of this gadget. I cook just about every meal for my family, so it'd be nice to have something like this that will save me a good chunk of time! Thanks for the warm reception, everyone. I've missed you guys. :smile5:
