I don't have extra cash for flash things like Gopro camera's so I'm going to test this little bugger from China. For $40 its worht a try. For that price it's definitely worth a shot. Let us know how it works out. It's a good price, but I'll wait for someone else to be the guinea pig.
Send them some of your "Action" pic's of the MINI running the PR rally.... Get GoPro's juices flowing..... You'll have GoPro's hanging all over your racekor before you know it...
If it just works just pretty good it's worth 40 bucks.. I thought the kicker was going to be the shipping cost but that is free. I need someone to explain that. A lot of stuff on ebay from Hong Kong, and or China locations are free "epacket" shipping. How is that? That little camera/video device would probably cost me 30-40 bucks to ship to China!!!! Let us know how well it works once you get it..
I have an Australian Go-Pro, called a Swann Freestyle. It has a ton of features that the Go-Pro doesn't have. I got it at Fry's for cost about half of what a Go-Pro camera costs. I'm really pleased with it. Freestyle HD Wearable Action Video Camera with LCD Viewer
I did contact Go Pro a while back for support or free stuff but they were not interested. I suppose Mr Block gets them plenty of footage? Anyway back to the Chino Pro! I hooked it up this morning a did the drive to work. You can mount it up side down with the picture correcting the right way round but when I viewed the footage on my laptop it was inverted and I couldn't figure out how to turn the picture the right way round. LOL The picture quality and sound was good enough but I mounted the camera on the windscreen which showed up all the stone chips. I'm going to play with the monuting this week and hopefully post some footage soon.
Looking forward to your screen debut Chris. Heck for the cost of that camera even I can afford to buy one. Imagine thrilling action videos of the drive to the donut shop. :donut1: As far as the upside down goes, is it possible they shipped you an Ausie model? :ihih:
I read the destruction book last night but couldn't find how to de-Aussie it! So I will have mount it the correct way round. I think my drive to work is far more exciting than the drive to the donut shop! Anyway the rally is this weekend so I hope to have it sorted by then. Cute camera with touch screen.
I tried the suction cup mount on the roll cage brace this morning which give a nice in car view and the ugly driver steering etc but not much view of the road. Anyway after 500yards the camera fell off! The footage looked good though. I think I need to re-think the mounting. LOL
Go on say it! DUH! I fitted the camera, got it all set up and due to the excitement of the rally forgot to switch it on for the whole day! what a dummy!!!!!
Been there done that, but it was a VHS camera. OK Chris, now you have a good reason to run another rally. :biggrin5:
the good thing is I didn't use it when I rolled the Mini as I would have blamed the camera as a jinx as the last time I did an in car video in 1992 i rolled the MK2 Escort car! I'm going to do some footage when I get back to CR strapped to my RC helicopter!
Cameras can be bad juju. A friend had an 8mm movie camera (remember those) in his rally car. The video starts out on stage 1 he's wicking it on real good. He then turns the review mirror so the camera has a better view, bang he crashes, video ends with "SHORT FARKIN RALLY!". Chris make sure your camera uses the non-juju format.
