I'd like to introduce you to MotorWerks Magazines project MINI, Cooper RSR. It was bought in May 2012 and is a 2006 Cooper S. The car was low mileage, 59,000 km, 36,875 miles and was super clean which is just what I wanted for our project. The idea of the project was to show how you can take a standard Cooper S and have fun with it in a competitive arena without spending a fortune.
So with that in mind I entered the BMW Clubs Canada Trillium Chapter Autoslalom championship. We arrived at the venue and did not play with anything, no tire pressure adjustments, nothing! I won my class and finished 10th overall out of 156 entries through the year.
Now we get into modification mode! Check out the car as we got it on Facebook. https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.137717459713241.32339.121407688010885&type=3

These are all great companies and components, make sure you check them out for your MINI and BMW needs.
So far in the magazine we have basically talked about the products and there will be in depth articles when fitting them.

    Are Facebook links OK

A question for the forum readers, are these Facebook links OK or would you rather prefer photos inside the thread? Facebook is easier for me but I want you guys to be happy.

I'm biased, so take it as you want. But pictures here in the thread would be great.

    Here we go!

We are going to run coilover suspension from Hot Bits Sports Suspension. This is the DT2 double adjustable with nitrogen canisters.

    Next up!

One of the big issues as far as I am concerned with BMW and MINI is having wheel bolts instead of wheel studs. TC Kline
has a set of studs that are NASCAR style with a bullet nose that will make your life easier when changing wheels at the track.
The MINI set comes with nuts and Loctite to lock the studs in.

    New look for Cooper RSR

I loved the look of the MINI Aero kit and body color flares so we sourced the body kit from our advertiser MINI of Concord. There were no kits left in Canada and I appreciate that MOC managed to get one for me. We are also going to paint the wheel arch flares body color. That is going to be done by Mike Taylor at Taylored by Mike. The photos shows the test fitting of the front bumper and bonnet Aero grill. MINI recommends painting the outside body color, what do you think?

touché. when you get the car (without fat driver) below 2000#, I need to see what you have done. the M7 grill is worth about 5-6 hp.

    Test fitting

We now have all the old bumpers and sideskirts removed as well as the fender flares. You saw the front bumper test fitted and here are the rear apron and the sideskirt set in place to make sure they fit.

    Need some help!

Cooper RSR is staying red this year but will be wrapped blue in 2014. We need to choose the color for the centers of our Forgeline GA3 wheels; they have this satin gunmetal that I think will go well with either color, the other option as far as I am concerned is satin black, what do you think?
