Hi All. I'm new to Minis and new to this forum. I've wanted a Mini for quite a while. Finally picked out a 2012 Hardtop S. It's as much fun to drive as I thought it would be. My only complaint is that it tramlines a bit on roads with ruts. I have the stock Potenza RFT (205/45/17) on JCW 17" rims. Is that normal with the high PSI runflat tires?
Welcome!!! Yeah....runflats suck.... 95+% of mini owners switch to regular tires (they fit on the same rim and are cheaper)....
Welcome to M/A the FUN Mini site. As for Run Flats a.k.a. "Run Rocks" they are all horrible. Ditch them when you can for set or regular tires and you will like the ride much better.
Welcome to MA. Glad your MINI is fun for you! I can't say about your tramline experience exactly. My experience is that tramlining can be tire dependent. For example my Mazda tramlines noticeably with the DWS Conti's versus the winter Dunlops. (neither are runflats)
Welcome to M/A I don't have experience with those tires that you have, but at one time I had a set of Yokohama ES100's that were just terrible in that regard, not a good feeling for sure. I'd recommend going with a non-runflat. Read the reviews on Tire Rack to see what folks like. Alignment can also affect how a car feels. Too much toe-out can give you a tramlining affect.
