My 2011 Mini R56 is at 71,000 miles and has developed a slight bucking at acceleration. The spark plugs have not yet been replaced and I plan to do it this weekend. Went to the Mini dealer and got OEM plugs that are Champion brand. Had a friend recommend NGK. Has anyone used NGK or OEM Champion with success? Am I on the right track to replace the spark plugs? Thanks!
I put OEM plugs in my Wife's MINI at 50,000 miles. Her MINI still runs like a top with 78,000 miles on the clock. I see no benefit in using a different kind of plug in your case or mine. Changing the plugs may or may not make a difference. At your mileage it would be good to do. Are you seeing any check engine lights? If so get your car scanned to find out what code it has if any. Do you have a MCS or a Cooper? Welcome to M/A.
Welcome to M/A! When I first got my MCS, I was all hot to mod it up and switched out my OEM plugs for NGKs at around 20k...bad idea as they gave me all sorts of problems. I returned to OEM plugs and the car is still running smoothly at 120k.
Thank you all! OEM's it is! I hope this will fix the slight bucking problem. I'll also check the wires while I'm at it. This is great to get experinced advice!
There are no spark plug wires, just coil packs. One on each plug. If you need help Detroit Tuned is a great place with very knowledgeable guys. http://www.detroittuned.com/shop/
