Just received the production number yesterday on my 3rd Mini.

Blue, my first mini, was a 2008 lighting Blue with silver roof Clubman S. She retired in May of 2013 when I received Lucy my current Crystal Silver and Red JCW Countryman.

Ethel will be a 2018 Countryman S E in British racing green with black roof and rims. Dealer had told me expect October when I put down deposit. They opened the order board early and he did a mod on their initial order and it bumped to May 22nd production week.

Now I have to get the 220 outlet in the garage.

We live in North East Wisconsin and yes that is a tow chain hooked to Lucy. She had some problems on the ice covered drive in Nov and I had to pull her out with the tractor. Those tow hooks are handy.

Your current MINI looks awesome. Your new one looks cool too, I did not know they had a plug in hybrid, that sounds cool, much funner then your typical hybrid.

I can't say much about hair, mine is starting to leave my head, but that did not stop me from (ordering) buying my 2015 MINI Roadster S a couple years ago. I just have to remember to wear a hat or I get a nice scalp burn but still have hair in the way of treating that burn. I made that mistake driving my car in Seattle Pride last year, with the corporate mascot of the company I work for as the passenger. (lets just say that it hurt and it wound up peeling)

GM at my dealership said the US only gets 415 plug in Hybrids for 2018MY.

I have not seen one yet since the dealers initial show units are being built now. They said the rear seat is about 1.5 inches higher, the grass tank is smaller, and the S is yellow.

A few other options not avail since they are trying to fit more stuff in the same space.

Nicely appointed it is not a low cost Mini but we do get a just over $4,000 tax credit next spring for it being a plug in Hybrid.

So, let me see if I understand this. The onboard motor doesn't charge the batteries? You have to plug into house current to charge it? Everything you save on gas you're spending on AC. And you get a tax credit for it? Doesn't sound much different from the tax payer subsidized Chevy Volt.

Is it the 3 cylinder engine they are putting in it?

It gets the 3 cylinder engine with a turbo. The motor does charge the batteries so it runs like a normal hybrid once you run the battery down to the charging point. With plug in charge you can go about 24 miles with no engine on.

I have 23 miles round trip from work. if I don't drive wildly I should be able to make it to and from work with no gas. Based on what I have read, it calculates out to abut $2.50 of electric cost per 100 miles of charged driving.

It has more HP than my JCW Gen1 Countryman with the 1.5L and electric motor in the rear. 0 to 60 is quicker and top speed is 192MPH.

And yup Vetsvette it is essentially a Mini Bolt.

I agree but that is what the spec sheet says. I would assume even f possible it would be governed far south of that.

It will only hit 192 mph if you push it off the edge of the Grand Canyon. For most F series MINI's that is a good option.
