Hello everyone! I am very Happy I am here! Got my Bucket List Mini a couple weeks ago and I love and live Her? It? Baby? Got a list of things to do and one is the PULLY. I went with the 15%. Tell me about it since its not here yet! Also got some NGK plug wires to go with the cooler plugs. I hope to learn a lot here and maybe help some people out too.

I'm attaching a couple pictures. One is my mini. The other is some wires which are not protected and I'm not sure why as the winters here are snowy. The are right below the bonnet release cable

hi there and Welcome to M/A!

I have a 15% pulley on my '06 MCSa and I love it. My car is a daily driver, occasional Tail of the Dragon car, twisty car and has seen a lot of track use over the years. In short, a 15% pulley for me was the best spent bang for the buck.

    Again, enjoy your new ride!

Welcome to MA! That is the cable that releases the hood. Just keep a light coating of grease on them if you are worried about rust. I would change the belt tensioner and idler pulley when you do the SC pulley. Also check the crank pulley. If the rubber is cracking you may want to replace it before it fails. I went with an ATI supper damper. Not cheep but worth it. I have a 17% pulley but believe a 15% is the best choice. Always use the stock coil, its good for 300 HP I believe. For the 15% pulley you need a Gates K060535 belt.

    Nice looking R53!

    Welcome Aboard!

The wires next to the hood release are standard in that location. I have never heard anyone having issues with them. I cleaned mine up and sprayed that connector with some silicone lube to keep the moisture out.

I got my MINI 3 months after I bought it, so I had a lot of time to research what mods I wanted. This site was SOOOO helpful. I picked up my MINI on a monday, changed tires on Tue. and had it aligned, left for the Dragon on Wed.. First thing Thursday morning, Chad and the crew from Detroit Tuned installed a heavier rear sway bar, a 15% pulley and a DDM cold air intake. I then took it across the isle and had Jan from RMW add a custom tune. It ran like a different car and was ABSOLUTELY a pleasure to drive. I would recommend those mods without hesitation.

I have added other mods since then, but none have given me the 'bang for the buck' that the first mods did.

I forgot to mention that when I got home form the Dragon, I had all the fluids and the cabin air filter changed.
