Today we are ending publication of our online magazine. *As The Daily Toggle ends its run, we wanted to reflect on our time with our readers. We have a lot to be thankful for. Not just for the car and the people, not just for the*history and the stories. And we are*grateful for the time […] More...
Sad to hear that Daily Toggle is also feeling MINI belly aches. But I send my thanks to the writers for the dedicated efforts it takes to keep a publication going for two years. Ending it has got to be bittersweet. I have been through that, too.
Mostly superficial content but with an occasional gold nugget. I still think Jennifer's article about a year ago on her internal struggle trying (and failing) to learn to love the F-series was a great piece. In any event, I respect and appreciate their dedication and the efforts made. I'm guessing James' reflection in the first two paragraphs of his farewell post is a microcosm of the remnants of the MINI enthusiasts community in general (albeit with some outliers). Choosing to go in a different direction.
I put the blame on the F series of MINIs. They are just not the same fun, quirky cars they once were. In what I think is the misguided path to be more mainstream they have alienated those that brought them. Like Shania Twain says.... [ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wcBplbfXgSY"]Shania Twain - Dance With The One That Brought You - YouTube[/ame] MINI didn't.
Loved it when Chief Motorer Jim McDowell challenged Porsche USA to a track race.... [ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IhYmv0yySaY"]MINI USA | MINI vs Porsche | MINI Response - YouTube[/ame] I have no idea who the current Chief Motorer is.... I guess that's saying something right there... I can't recall seeing a good / funny MINI commercial recently... I guess that's saying something right there... Thomas Felbermair is the current Chief Motorer. We've not heard much from him as of yet, however, with MTTS starting later this week who knows.
Who knew.... Here's a mini picksur of em... At least he doesn't appear to be wearing a MINI scarf....
There are a lot of things that need to be brought back to MINI... And The are a lot of things that need to be let go from MINI...
Ok true. I would like to revise and amend my post......... Give me back the quirky, fun don't care if we are different MINI company!:biggrin5:
