Crap, I am a moderator and I am not sure if this is the right forum, but what the hell. My low profile Craftsman Jack from Sears finally died after about 8 years. AND... they don't make it any longer. Thanks Sears. Need a recomendation for a low profile jack. And I need it quick. Next track day is on Jan 1oth. AND I'd like to keep it around $100+/- This is the one I had: HELP!!!
Amazon .... http://www.amazon.com/TruePower-3000-Aluminum-Racing-Jack/dp/B00M2MOUK0/ref=sr_1_9?s=lawn-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1419822817&sr=1-9&keywords=low+profile+aluminum+jack
Ordered the one from Amazon. Not sure I want to mess trying to fix the seals. But it's still in the garage, so I just might later.
I use the same standard 3 ton jack I use on my wife's Toyota Highlander... I just drive the mini up onto a couple scraps of 2x6 lumber...and the jack fits fine!! Call me cheap....but as long as I remember to toss the 2x6 scraps under the tires before I lower it, it works great!!
I have that same Sears one, except mine still works. I also have a Harbor Freight one. I grab the HF one most of the time when I need to lift my MINI.
I figure all these jacks come from the same Chinese jack factory. Only difference is the name on the jack & the color.
Yes again to HF. If you keep an eye out it goes for $59.99 with coupon. 1.5 Ton Compact Aluminum Racing Floor Jack with Rapid Pump®
Which is why he's the best mod ever. +1 on HF, the only reason I'd get it there is usually you can get a coupon for it that knocks the price down considerably. But if you're in a hurry, Amazon is pretty slick, and that does appear to be the exact same jack.
I just cannot climb under a car or work on a car with a HF jack. Oh always use jack stands if you have any car on any jack.
Gonna put my car up in the next day or two (then probably shipping it to Colin if he has time), I'll post a pic of what I'm using. It's not jacks, and it's not a lift in the true sense of the word, but I really, really like it.
Damn, Amazon does ship quick. Got it last night. Haven't even had a chance to unbox it. Here in plenty of time fo rthe next track day.
Garage is dirty, but this is what I'm using now. Gets the car up quick, about two minutes safely and solidly, in about two minutes. It's overrpriced, but I'm getting a ton of use from it.
