Pretty sure there are countless threads on this, but before I start digging, please pardon the lazy here for opting to ask M/A over google.:)
My driver side window developed a loud pop every time twas rolled up. It eventually added some scratchy sound prior to the pop, til a few days ago when it totally went dead & refused to roll down. Switch makes the motor relay sound, but the window just won't go down. Tried the switch reset, the door card banging....to no avail. Now with 2 hands, the window can be forced down & pulled up w/o the aid of the window switch & motor.
Has anyone had this? Is the fix just these mounting parts?

Or is a window regulator swap needed? If so, aside from genuine MINI, which of the hobo replacements here have you guys tried w/ good service life?

....and, would a new motor be necessary? Thanks in advance, guys.

You may not need a motor. When my 02 did this I replaced the regulator. Just don't use a cheep part. I did and had to do it agin. the second time I used an OEM part and it has lasted a long time.

On ECS. I know you didn't ask but for what it is worth I don't use them any more. They are hell bent on dominating the market. I wont go into it but they are trying to undercut the little guys, and have even said so.

If you don't have Bentley manual let me know I can send the instructions on how to adjust the window. That part was fun.

I tried using ECS once. It was the poorest excuse for service I have ever had. I would rather pay a little more & get good service.

Use one of our site sponsors. You will get a fare deal & help out someone who helps this site. Win win!

Back on topic Windows computers.....

Thanks for the input, sir! I've been pushing back on grabbing the Bentley since maintenance work on the car has been pretty straight forward, thanks mostly to guys here. The 'fun' part you mention I hope to skip. Haha. This is the 1st car I've had power windows fail on me. I miss manual windows. Haha.

Appreciate the feedback. Purpose for those links was simply for brand guidance outside genuine MINI. I know one can't go wrong w/ genuine parts, but often, that hobo inside is pretty persuasive. :)

Look up the group on FB called “Why I hate ECS Tuning”

ECS is not a good place to buy parts, they are always late and charge a fortune to ship.

FYI ~ ECS also owns Turner Motorsports and Pelican Parts now. So you have been warned.

Buy from our M\A sponsers like Detroit Tuned, Helix and many others.

    * note * WMW is not a sponsor here just like ECS.

Thanks, Dave. Since when did ECS, Pelican & Turner become 1?

Interesting, I didn't know ECS was gobbling up their competition. Once there is no competition watch the prices rise. Thanks for the heads up Dave.

I've had great luck & service from the sponsors here. Good folks one & all.

It’s been a while now. You need to read on FB.

Ask Aaron of Out motoring, they said if they could not buy him out they were going to put him out of business. Aaron’s words on his FB site not mine.

I'm among the few left who prefer the simpler life w/o FB.:) It's good to know, Dave.
Anyway, can anyone recommend a worthy window regulator that's not as pricey as genuine MINI?
    Thanks!

Yes what you guys said. They have cornered the BMW market now they are going after Mini.

@minsanity I wish you could skip the fun part of adjusting it but I tried and had a bad whistle when I went down the road. It wisest too bad adjusting it though.

Thanks for the fun warning & the hand. Guess I'll have to take you up on that once I see what went wrong behind the door card.:)

Try using the OEM part number and look it up on Rockauto or Amazon.

I'd call Steven over at eMINIprts.com (site sponsor). You may find that his price isn't bad. I've always had very good luck there & been treated more than fairly.

Yea there is a special tool to loosen and tighten them. I put the window up a little so I could reach in with my hand and start them. I used Chanel locks to get them lose and tighten them.
