Magic 8 Ball says "probably". Fiat outsold MINI in 5 of the past 7 months here in the US. The auto writers that prognosticate this stuff see the US as saving Fiat in the long run with European sales for all brands in the crapper as of late.
Be interesting to follow, Fiat was initially disappointed with 500 sales in the U.S., but it looks like it's picked up from what you wrote, I haven't really followed it lately. It's just that with Alfa possibly reentering the mix of eclectic cars, is there going to be enough to go around.
The 4C is not going to be inexpensive. Think in the range of a Cayman, Audi A5 or MB C350 range. Alfa says 4C's 'supercar numbers' make it ideal car for U.S. relaunch
I wasn't thinking the 4C, that's an entirely different animal--but the MiTo, if they produce it and bring it to the U.S., which I think could compete with MINI and Fiat 500, and their sportswagon, which apparently is under consideration for the U.S. and may have some cross appeal, but probably with people shopping the larger MINI offerings. Although I'm not sure Fiat would necessarily want to see an Alfa that competes with the 500 come over to the U.S. The 4C is an entirely different animal. Drop dead gorgeous, but I'd be too scared to buy one, I'm not sure I could trust it long term. Or even from the dealer to the driveway.
Odd. I had heard that a company in China now had the rights to the tritec and was putting them in a midsized sedan.
I had to look it up: Fiat buys Tritec engine factory I remember when the big rumor was that a Chinese company was going to buy the plant and ship all the tooling to China, but Fiat got dibs after BMW sold it to Chrysler. China was putting the Tritec into cars while MINIs were still being built, but I'm not sure what they're doing with the engine now--maybe they are still building it in China under some agreement, not sure on that one.

I would like to buy a new 1.8 and make a new 2.0 or more stroker motor with a TVS or a Rotrex with Meth. Maybe drop it in a new 2nd GEN coupester with a Vipec and build a little monster MINI. Come on lottery ticket numbers.....
You're braver than me... Anything above 1.8L seems to be the cutoff for problems, I've gotten to the point where I'm not sure the current Tritec 1.6 block can handle more than that reliably. Although with water/meth, or 100% meth, like you have, maybe. I wonder if they've done anything major to the block on the 1.8 and if so, how much more it weighs, or simply bored out the 1.6. Wish there was some english text of what that's all about on that video.
