:cornut: NICE DINAN MINI! (I heard that they went out of business-'tis a shame-hopefully I'm wrong) She ought'a run like the wind and turn like a boot legger. All this and CONFEDERATE GREY! Jason
1st.... great looking MINI 2nd.... Dinan is still in business, but they never started making product for the Gen 2 MINIs.
Correct, but have also liquidated thier stock of Gen 1 Mini parts. I heard there was not enough demand in their MINI program.
:cornut: So...............2nd Gen is so good that Dinan couldn't improve upon it. They felt that only the 1st Gen needed to be improved upon? I'm sure that Dave.O will be along shortly to edjamacate me.:lol::lol::lol: Jason
i dont believe they have much anymore. i ordered a replacement filter last week and they were more than helpful. my poor mini was gaging with that old filter
The deal with Dinan was that you get get their stuff and still have a warranty. They self warrantied their product line. Parts and install were from the MINI Dealer if they were also a Dinan Dealer. Dinan is bigger with BMW, they offer stuff for many models with the blessing of BMW US sort of. The problem with Dinan for MINI was multipronged. The stuff is expensive, dealers were few and far between, dealers charged a lot for install. When there was an issue there was often a disconnect between MINI and Dinan, each pointing the finger at the other. Dinan was good for early performance updates on the MINI but then other companies started getting better results for less money. Dinan wasn't selling enough MINI stuff to keep up the R&D end of things and by about 2005 they stopped the push and pretty much sold off stock on hand never getting into the 2nd gen cars.
Yup that's it as you know first hand kitty. You had a 1st Gen Justa traded it for a 2nd Gen S and then traded it for a 1st Gen S. Don't get me wrong the new 2 gen coupe vert (speedster) would be awesome car to start modding. (Engine swap w/Vipec.) Dinan made great stuff but Mini owners for the most part are cheap and no one wanted to pay the Pablo Über price for there parts. They still make parts for the uber BMW M- nerds. That also explains why ALTA and other vendors sell (cheap parts) are still in business today. People will buy crap parts at $50.00 - $ 500.00 price points all day long but a company that sells quality high priced products struggle to make sales.
