Almost picked one up but at my young age of 46, I needed some more sporty.... a coupe. Seriously, you've got the best of both worlds... performance and more room. Post a pic. Mark
I drove the JCW Clubman at a track event. Fantastic car, but just a lil' soft for my tastes (my Mini is an '06 Sport packaged R53 MCS). Also, with that additional rear wheelbase and weight, be sure to check tire pressures and leave the stability control on while onroad. My fist run was Great Big Easy Fun, then I turned the stability control off and achieved MUCH better rotation... then 'twas a little too good in the one tight segment where I about got 'er to swap ends under braking in the offset gates at the end of the autocross! Admittedly, it was a coned duplicate of a "Scandinavian flick", but was hard to recover from - and since a couple of the instructors did it too, I'd leave the stab control on while on the road. Don't get me wrong, it's not early-Porsche-911 levels of anxiety - it IS a Mini after all! - but it doesn't plow on like the standard wheelbase MC or MCS! It's a great driving car, very sporty and riotously fast (sounds great too). I'd just firm up the suspenders a little bit. Oh - and the R53 seats are slightly better for my frame.
LOVE My MINI John Cooper Works Have 18,000 plus miles on it and it's been pretty much bulletproof - save for the cam chain tensioner death rattle in the winter time. Brembos have become a tad noisy at around 16,000 miles. I do have the JCW suspension and it's a good compromise for me in Washington DC as the streets tend to be hellish. I am getting a 22 mm sway bar installed on Monday courtesy of my friends at Mach V. Love the lightweight BBS Forged RV-F wheels.
Krut....you should add the wheels to the WheelFinder please. If you need instructions... http://www.motoringalliance.com/forums/how-do-i/724-wheel-rack-how-do-i-use-wheel-rack.html Thanks!!
I have a 09 CR/B JCW (JR by name) that will be a year old in less than a month. I only have 4400 miles and he is a daily driver. 3 mile commute to work is lovely. This is my third Mini and much like children, not many pictures. He may get a TWS X brace for his birthday, other than that not many mods. A few cosmetic things, antenna, badges. Have really been waiting to see what if any issues the JCW would have before doing any upgrades. Then upgrade the weak points. Can anyone shed some light on what those would be?
