Hi, Im new here, so I hope Im in the right place. 2009 mini, I replaced the AC compressor bracket which was broken?? Anyway, put it all back together last night, drove all around going woo hoo out the window because it was fixed. Then this am it runs hot on the inerstate. I did not plug the ac comp into the wiring harness because the system isnt charged yet. I dont know if the fans wont work with that loose? Fans are not coming on, the top hoses are hot, very, but the bottom radiator hose was cool. I plugged up the compressor and still no fan. My girlfriend waited about 5 hrs, it cooled and she drove it about 5 miles to work. No issue. Ill look at it again after work today but why?? Any Ideas? Could the water pump be out? Kinda coincidental that Im in the ac area and now its running hot. Anything I could have unplugged? Only removed the ac compressor. Didnt have to put it in "Service Mode" had room to get it out by removing right wheel and inner fender. Came right out. I need help please. Thanks, Mike
Yes, belt is on correct. as far as I can tell. it goes around the ac, the alt, crank and the tentioner. New belt. Its not the S. Where is the water pump at anyway? Is it belt driven?
As a matter of fact I didnt put the inner fender back in yet just so I could see everything. Was gonna do that today, but looks like Ill be doing whatever to it now..
The water pump kinda looks like a heart. Being one side is hot and the other is not I'd be thinking there is a stuck thermostat.
Thank you and where can I get that diagram with the components listed? I will attempt today to do thermostat. Can I run it without one to get it home?
Oh which side of the eng is it on? Driver or pass. Can it be gotten to without taking the front end apart? or do I have to go thru the tail pipe??
That image came from RealOEM.com, an online BMW, MINI, Rolls parts listing. It's a copy of the BMW ETK that is pretty up to date but not perfect. Might I recommend that you pick up a Bentley Manual for this MINI. There happens to be one available on the site right now, See http://www.motoringalliance.com/forums/mid-ohio-motoring/19076-anyone-need-bentley-service-book-r55-56-57-a.html#axzz2dSEA50rI
