My problem: I bought my Luxury/Convenience/Comfort R55 off-lease, and it only came with one key. I don't really NEED a second Convenience Key, I just want a back-up to open the doors and start the car. The Convenience key is more expensive than the normal "Inconvenience" key.

My question: Will a "regular" Gen 2 MINI remote work in my "Luxury/Convenience" MINI, for opening the doors and starting the car (when it's in the key slot/cradle)?

It may not be worth the effort, but the cost difference is $100-150 +/- (which ain't chump change for us under-employed folks).

    Any experience here?

Edit 8/26/2012: Never mind. I bought a new one. $250 (remote) + $47 (slide-in key) + $55 programming fee. Full tilt boogie key.

But now I can't sit down.
