Just got back from a little run from SoCal to ND. Kinda interesting to say the least! Thru the Rocky, Wasatch and Bear Tooth mountains, across the South West red rock country and over the Great Plains. The weather was horrid a lot of the way and the roads ranged from great to ghastly to non-exsistent at times. Got to test some new mods in real world driving conditions, too. The new Audi diverter valve worked flawlessly and never exhibited the so called boost leakage at full boost (+20psi) that's been reported. The new splitter combined with the JCW wing totally anchored the car even in +50mph crosswinds. The new Koni Yellow struts/shocks were a revelation! They soaked up road "irregularities" with aplomb and never bottomed out once. I highly recommend them on a lowered MINI! Ran +80 whenever I thought I could get away with it, but that got a little difficult at times. Got blown out of Cody, WY, snowed out of Yellowstone/Grand Tetons, massive road re-construction everywhere with roads closed due to avalanches, complete washouts, gone bridges, etc, etc. My MINI still got 32.8mpg for the trip, never missed a beat, went over 50K on the way home and we both had waaaaaay too much FUN!! ostcount
Great little adventure there. I need to get myself out to that part of the country sometime and explore too.
Go soonest Nathan! The South West will leave you with your mouth hanging open for mile after mile. So stunning it will almost make you slow down, LOL.
Yes, I can point you in the direction of some jaw dropping drives in AZ. Wonderful state to drive around and check out. Just make sure your A/C is working!
All that means is that when the paramedics pull you out of your MINI they don't use a stretcher. They use a whisk broom and dust pan! LOL
One of the best cartoons I saw while living there was 2 skeletons laying on chaise lounges with that caption... "But it's a dry heat..." The second best just said: "Phoenix, Arizona -- 20 miles from water and 2 feet from Hell..."
