My assessment: There is a much better response now than there was 45 years ago.

It is the soldier, not the reporter, who has given us freedom of the press.

It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech.

It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, who has given us freedom to demonstrate.

It is the soldier, who salutes the flag, who serves beneath the flag, and whose coffin is draped by the flag, who allows the protester to burn the flag.

(soldier can be replaced with sailor, airman, marine, or coastie. JM)

It is the AMERICAN FLAG that kids in school should be forced to stand up, show respect and say the pledge of allegiance too every day.

I don't give a crap about your religion or color or whatever BS belief you have because without that flag and the people that have died defending it you would not have the freedom in this great country that you have to begin with. If you can't do that GET OUT!

"I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all."

Actually, the kids should not have to be forced, they should want to stand up and say the Pledge of Allegiance.

Parents should be arguing for this and voting out the idiots who deny this should be done.

Also, English should be required as the spoken language in the good old USA. Learn it or leave!

    OK, I am done! :fingerscrossed:

Maybe if we would teach American history it would help. Then people would understand what a great country we come from!

I agree. Problem is the history that is taught is so distorted as to be unrecognizable, both the good and the bad. I'm willing to own up to our mistakes, but I'm still not willing to apologize for what we've done right.
