Hello, I haven't logged in for a while, so I thought I'd try to get caught up and a bit more involved. Happy Motoring!
Hello, I just join this forum and am a prospective MINI owner. I look forward to your help with my questions. Thanks
HI...from the mountains of Southern California and just joined. Have on order a 2012 chili Red JCW Cabrio with all the packages and some extra's to fill the toggle switches. Due to be built around the 5th of December and delivered hopefully in January. I cannot WAIT!!! :cornut::beer
first post hi all! love the site and all its information, a great resource! been researching wheels for my 04 mini and seeing all the slick rides on here give me inspiration and ideas galore.
Have fallen in love with Mini Coopers Just started reading posts here. I'm a Mini Cooper hardtop "luster" (maybe soon to purchase) 60 year old living in SF Valley (So Calif). I fell in love w/Minis when a friend loaned me his 2011 Clubman "S" recently. Now it's a question of base versus "S" and what goodies to add on. Can't wait!! Thanks for having this forum to read, research, and share insights.
:cornut: Welcome y'all, Welcome aboard!!!!!!!!!!! At the tender age of 59yo, I'm the youngster around here. Jason
What a great welcome! You guys are wonderful. I'm sure this has been asked a thousand times but aside from saving $$ are there other advantages in getting a "justa" versus "S"? I recently test drove a 2011 base (not an "S") manual hardtop and it seemed frisky enough in Sports mode. Does the "S" have better low-end torque? Anything else significant to warrant the additional cost of an "S"?
I guess it comes down to "justa" for mpg and "S" for low end torque. The "S" is faster on a straight road, no question there, but a justa can hold its own with them in the twisties. Now I'm going to get blasted here, but that is the way I see it. Jim
Having just changed from a Cooper to Cooper S for the most part a Justa can stay with an S in the twisties unless you are coming out of a sharp corner immediately followed by a uphill grade, low end torque much more noticeable in S. And of course when you pull out to pass a slower vehicle, wow,big difference.
Justa (base) or "S" mini? Thanks for the insight re: power of "S" versus base. Aside from less power, is the Justa (base model) a less punishing ride? I suspect w/o the sports suspension that's standard on the "S" and using regular versus run flat tires, the ride would be a bit easier on the bones, but is it a marked improvement? I'm not looking for Cadillac comfort but I don't want to loose too many vertebrae driving around town either. Unfortunately dealer test drives are too short for me to really tell a difference.
